Because I haven't been writing... um.. at all, lately, and I really want to be, I both dug up my unused [livejournal.com profile] au_bingo card from a couple years ago and requested a [livejournal.com profile] kink_bingo card. Cut for cards and brainstorming )

I'm also thinking about signing up for Yuletide. I've never done it before, so I'm a bit nervous, but it sounds fun, and I'd kill to read some Goon or Catherine fic. I've exhausted the handful of fics for the former, and literally NOTHING exists for the latter, soooo...

Obligatory Ship Flail:
- Everyone ships Sterek.
- Kaner and Tazer are adorbs.

On to the main point - so. I like making stuff. It's kind of my thing. Unfortunately, there aren't any good gift-giving holidays for a little while. Thus, I've decided to make my own up.

Alex Day! Or. Um. Something like that. Basically, I've decided that for my birthday this year (October 4), I want to give you guys things! I'll have fun, you'll get a present, it'll be streets ahead awesome all around. Okay? Okay?

Okay!

[Poll #1858454]

Once it's closer to the actual day, I'll ask for mailing addresses. For now, please just fill out the poll (seriously, I love making gifts - keep me busy!) and be happy. Sound good?

Holy crap, you guys. I made a Kane/Toews rec list. And it is HUGE.

Speaking of pairings I'm way too invested in, I encountered a Skyrim glitch the other day that actually worked in my favor. Many of the NPCs you meet in Skyrim you can marry if you're wearing the proper amulet and they're friends with you. For most of them, building a friendship is as easy as completing a quest related to them. The one character I had my eye on for a hubby, Quintus Navale, has two quests connected to him. I don't know why, but at some point I decided he was absolutely the one and only true love of my character. So when the game appeared to have glitched me out of obtaining his second quest (and thus removing my chance of marrying him), I was heartbroken.

I kept playing, though, and I bought a level-up perk that lets you invest in shops. Since Quintus is a shopkeeper, I figured I could at the very least show my platonic support of him. After I handed over 500 gold, though, a funny thing happened. I'd been wearing my Amulet of Mara for a while, just to see which characters were interested in me, and suddenly Quintus was one of them. Without ever getting his second quest. I don't know what flag got flipped incorrectly in the game or how, but investing in the shop turned him into a marriage prospect.

So I said I liked him. And we got married. And he's living in my house in Riften.

Seriously, I can't count the number of times I've had to reset because I sank into a mountain or a key item was knocked irretrievably behind a table or a quest item got stuck in my inventory... actually, that one's usually not fixable with resetting. I'm stuck with Finn's Lute and Pantea's Flute forever, it seems. Anyway, the point is, I'd never encountered a glitch I liked. Finally, the game's bugginess worked in my favor.

And yes, this means Nurelion's death never happened. He's still "asleep and dying" in The White Phial, while Quintus is baking me apple pies in Honeyside. Love it.

... I actually came close to crying with joy when I got to marry Quintus. I mean, I've sunk over 200 hours into my main character, and I'd been hoping to marry him for at least 150 of those. So. Happy.

Ashley, Dave, and Chad draw amazing things. Seeing their stuff made me want to draw things. Less amazing, granted, because those three are wowzers, but still things. And so I did!

Comics: My Life is Not Interesting )
Fanart: Shirtless Boys Kissing and a Teenage Demon )

By the way, what's the commonly accepted behavior when it comes to fanart? Do you let the author know you drew some, or just leave it to float on the internet? Which path is less rude?

Woke up so sore that I didn't take the dogs for their morning walk until 4pm. Ugh. A handful of advil and some Korean instant coffee later, though, I'm feeling pretty good.

Anyway, on to the main point of this post - SPORTS. I read this fic that's widely recced and I didn't really like it, but I was intrigued by the people those character archetypes were representing, so I read a primer on them and (even though it was kind of skewed and tinhatty) liked it. I watched the funny videos, then the highlight videos, then just some normal game videos, because I remembered that I love hockey. I grew up in Alaska and my dad took me to college hockey games almost every weekend. Just like that, it all came back - I was throwing out terminology and looking up stats and telling Jaime to watch the players, not the puck. The puck is too hard to follow if you're not reeeeeally used to it, and besides, it's just a puck. It slides around. The players are what make it happen.

This is getting too rambly. Point is I LOVE HOCKEY. I forgot that at some point, probably because I'd never really gotten into NHL stuff, as I didn't have a specific team I loved (outside of that college one from when I was little - GO SEAWOLVES!), one to get all fanatical over and call MY team. Well, now I do. I can't ever regret reading that crummy fic, because it brought back my pucking sport into my life and it introduced me to what would become my team.

In summation, BLACKHAWKS! FUCK YEAH!

I was tooling about their NHL gear site last night, as my Junpei hat's getting a bit worn so I'm looking to get a new lazy day cap, when the Toys & Games category caught my eye. Being a mental eight-year-old, I had to take a look. I was scrolling down, chuckling to myself and thinking, "I wish they had dolls. Like, a doofy looking Kaner plush that OH MY GOD THEY DO."

Seriously. They do.

Once I'd gotten the laughter under control ("Bleacher Creatures", snerk), I sighed. "Tempting, but I could never get him. It just wouldn't be right unless there was also HOLY SHIT THEY HAVE TAZER TOO."

Now I just need to come up with a way to convince Jaime that we must purchase those monstrosities and a baseball cap - can't forget why I was shopping in the first place. They're way cheaper than a jersey! It's a steal! I only wish there was a Sharpy doll too. Not to go with Kaner and Tazer; just for me. <3

FFXIII-2 is fucking fantastic. The plot is good, the gameplay is good, and Hope! I loved him in the first game; he's been my PS3 background since I unlocked that theme. It's really great to see him ten years later, all grown up and hot successful. Seeing Serah come into her own was great as well, and I can't help but love Noel. The ending left me a bit stunned and annoyed, but I'll probably be first in line to buy XIII-3, so good job, Square, I guess. Oh, and I love the rambunctious chocobos. Not only are they awesome and pretty, their music is BADASS. And hilarious. Pretty much the greatest song ever.

In other news, I totally ship Noel/Hope. Started out because they're both so lovely, but now I have legit ship reasoning. Sigh.

In other other news, I've been oddly productive today. Working on plush for [livejournal.com profile] ontdcreepy's Spring Crawl, cleaning the kitchen, unpacking the most gorgeous doll ever, finishing my art for [livejournal.com profile] originalbigbang's Reverse Bang... help me keep this going?

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] anglepoiselamp:
1) Name a fandom. Or two. Or ten. However many you want!
2) I'll draw a picture of my favorite character from said fandom.

Ready? Go!

Edit(11:45pm): I'll start this thing off with some fandoms Jaime suggested: Mythbusters, Persona 4, Community )
Edit(3/4): Have some Glee and FFXIII-2! )
