Wow! My very own city!

So... what do you guys know about Alexandria, Virginia?

What counts as "a lot of money" in that area? My boyfriend got a job offer and we're still considering how seriously to consider it.

Well it's been about a decade since I lived there, but I probably wouldn't want to try to live *in* Alexandria for less than, say, $65K a year. Of course it's possible to live further out and commute, but again...commuting in that area. Oy. Plenty of people live on less in DC, but with dogs that's going to limit your housing options. Alexandria itself is very expensive, rent-wise. Further out gets a little more reasonable, but it's still the DC suburbs, and it's always going to be expensive compared to other places.

Hm. He would be making more than that, so I guess it's not completely insane to think it over. Thanks for the info.

Oh, definitely consider it. Just do your research, look at housing, that sort of thing. It really is a fun city for young couples, and the history alone will keep you busy for ages.
