I thought it was interesting

Yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] alena_yuy:

1. Choose five to ten of your all time favorite books.
2. Take the first sentence of the first chapter and make a list in your journal.
3. Don't reveal the author or the title of the book.
4. Now everyone try and guess! Cross them off as they're guessed correctly.

Alright, here we go.

1. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] vithrar) The Salinas Valley is in Northern California.
2. Through the fence, between the curling flower spaces, I could see them hitting.
3. It was love at first sight.
4. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] voifac) I've watched through his eyes, I've listened through his ears, and I tell you he's the one.
5. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bitrodya) It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.
6. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] petuniamarcus) An old blue Ford pulled into the guarded parking lot that morning, looking like a small, tired dog after a hard run.
7. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] petuniamarcus) When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.
8. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] draconox) Brian Robeson stared out the window of the small plane at the endless green northern wilderness below.

Some I read when I was younger, some I didn't read until much later. One I hadn't read until this year. Happy guessing!

[identity profile] petuniamarcus.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)

1984 was an alright year, for what I can remember of it.

Indeed it would be. I always had a weird fascination with that book, all through elementary school. Good stuff.

[identity profile] rinnia.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, momie! Although, there's another one there that I think only you could recognize... :D

[identity profile] rinnia.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Much agreed. I remember the most lovely coral paperweight that I had... Man, I wish I really had one. I need to read that book again.

[identity profile] petuniamarcus.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha - I thought I remembered that one. This passage is the opening of "The Long Walk" by Stephen King. Boy, you LOVED that book.

[identity profile] petuniamarcus.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
ok - it might help if I say what number - how about number 6?

[identity profile] petuniamarcus.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
ok - I do know the identity of the last 2 - but to be fair I will not divulge them. :P

[identity profile] rinnia.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep yep yep! I did enjoy that one greatly. I briefly considered putting "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" on here as well, but decided that one King/Bachman book was enough. Your second favorite book would have been very obvious. What is it... "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." Something like that? Oh, and how does The Stand start?

[identity profile] petuniamarcus.livejournal.com 2005-04-22 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You got the beginning of The Dark Tower correct. The first line from the stand is "Sally."
