Warning: Angry Liberal!

This is working very well for them.
Why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?
Barbara Bush needs to shut her filthy mouth. You are not the president. You are not the first lady. You are not in any way actively involved in politics! You are, on the other hand, the aging, confused mother of one of the most inept people ever to enter the public eye. I wish you were embarassed by what you've said, as that expensive leather pump wedging into your gaping maw just might shut you up for a while. Just because you are so unimportant in the vast scope of things doesn't mean that your megalomaniacal comments don't hurt and infuriate others. Enough people hate your family without you dancing around in your personal bubble of ignorance, flinging oil into the fire. Either learn to be silent, or... no, actually, there is no or. Just shut up.

She is not the president, she is not the first lady, and she is not actively involved in politics at all. she is an aging, confused woman who is expected to have somehow relevant and up to date views on world events....im in no way saying that she had a right to say what she did. in fact im wholeheartedly agreeing that the best solution is for her to just shut up. or maybe people should stop harassing a confused old woman whose led enough of a public life to deserve some peace. everyone makes mistakes.

man, but what a shitty mistake to make, you know?

I am not expecting her to have relevant and up to date views. I am expecting her to have enough tact to not say anything if she's going to make comments like these. And I think she deserves every bit of harassment she gets for these, until she realizes that she should just keep quiet if this is how she feels.

And yeah, quite the shitty mistake. I mean, use the wrong fork, for crying out loud, don't make light of a tragedy that your son is already receiving grief for based on his slow response time. I'm not going to go into the whole anger against Dubya thing on this one - it's far too complex to just sum up as "wrong" or "right" - but she, or some adviser, should recognize that her thoughts are only going to raise anger more.

oh yeah, dubya definately fucked it up in several major areas....hes been on my shit list for a little while now (admittedly a much shorter while than many people think he deserves, but hey, i go with what i know). the "beautiful mind" quote didnt seem that bad in context...just retarded. there arent many other immediately apparent ways to take the other quote tho, despite the best efforts of the White House press secretary...

presonally, i feel that political correctness is retarded....why do we expect people who are probably observed and evlauated more than anyone else in the world (here im speaking of any public figure) to be perfect and never ever offend anyone? like the comment that the pres. of harvard made? definately a mistake, but not the huge outrage everyone made of it....

It's not so much that she made the comment that bothers me. Rather, somebody cared enough to listen. She's not the president, she's not the first lady and she's not in any way involved in politics. So why does anyone care what she has to say? Stupid people say stupid things. The best policy is to ignore them and hope that everyone else does the same. I mean, how many people do you think take Barbara Bush seriously, anyhow?

To comment on my last statement, I realize that a lot of people must take her seriously for all this bullshit reporting to have taken place. Ignore that last sentence. But yes, I feel your frustration that the world is full of stupid people and that other people are stupid enough to agree with them.
