Oh lordy.

As found on bastion of truth Wikipedia:

Toriyama states "The treatment of summons beasts has changed quite a bit," he said, "The fact that the players can summon will not change, but what happens after that will be something totally different."[citation needed] The example he pointed too was Shiva and how she transforms into a motorcycle. Toriyama hinted that Lightning may ride Shiva in battle.

Note that this is from the director of FFXIII, who also directed FFX-2. This does not bode well. In fact, this is one of the most disheartening things I've read in a long time. Also raining on my parade is this gem:

Character designer Tetsuya Nomura describes her as "not very feminine", and says that he was asked to create a "female version of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII" when designing her.

Ah Christ. Really? They also mention drawing inspiration for battles from what was presented in Advent Children. Have I mentioned how over this whole World of Sevencraft thing I am?

It's also worth noting that Toriyama directed Revenant Wings, which has yet to be released. If he destroys the awesomeness that is XII's cast for me, so help me, I will fly to Japan just to find him and kick him in the nuts. Gah!

Revenant what-now?

The fact that it's being directed by the guy who did X-2 is enough for me not to want it. The sphere thing was cool, but the story just destroyed the X world, in my opinion. Looks like now the only reason to buy a PS3 for me is Devil May Cry 4. Alack and alas.

I agree whole-heartedly. I wasn't a huge fan of X to begin with, and X-2 was fun as far as the basic gameplay went, but the plot was horrible and the styling was painful.

Revenant Wings is a DS sequel to XII, hence my concern. I really really love XII, and if he ruins it for me... oooooooo...

There's still Versus XIII to hold out for, but yeah... the PS3 is more than just overpriced to me now - it's also becoming undesirable.

Now that I think about it, owning a Shiva themed bike would rock so hard, but to actually have her turn into one and have someone named "Lightning" ride on her in game? Nuh-uh.

And what's the deal with sequels all of a sudden? Blows my mind how they can ruin good games with bad sequels. Just like they do with movies.

I forgot what my point was. I guess I'll see you in June?
