false alarm!
male tarantulas are supposed to reach maturity at two or three years. at that point, they are supposed to stop molting. kc was given custody of spunky when my family moved, when he was almost 6. he hadn't molted for over 2 years, and kc had never seen him go through the process.
thus, my crazy 7-year-old spunky-baby isn't dead; he was molting!
*dances for joy* poor kc had never seen a molt *and* by all natural laws, he should not be molting anymore. but he was! and is alive! w00t!
