It's done!
Finally. My transmission is completed.
Introducing, from Team Branola, made of plexiglass, aluminum, and steel, and featuring a 6.7 gear ratio and orange-go banding, iiiiiiiiiit's Scrappy II!
I even recorded our demo! Click here to see him in action! The voices in the video are Prof Burdick's and Steve's, and the guy in the weird khaki jumpsuit-type-thing is Vincent. Vincent's kind of a jerk. I mean, only if you would consider a complete and utter egomaniacal misogynist a jerk. But this post isn't about him, it's about Scrappy II!
Despite some disappointing trials in the morning, we ended up with a time of less than 40 seconds to reach 250 rpm, and a max speed of around 300 rpm, if I remember correctly. Our final score was 7.8 or so, which was very respectable, and though still about 4 points below the best transmission (Planetary gears. Yikes.), it was about 4 points above the worst as well. I give an A. Hopefully Prof Burdick will come to the same conclusion.
And now, to reclaim my life and not spend 7-8 hours per day working in a metal shop! *turns on FF:CC*
