j cubed and cuddly critters

remember my friend from high school, chris jackson? boarding my plane in san francisco last night, who did i see gathering his stuff from the waiting area near me but the hum!geek himself? we talked on our way to the plane about school and the like (crazy philosophy majors. ick.). it was... kind of odd, but really cool at the same time. i'd almost forgotten about the reno people. it's nice to be reminded of the good ones.

evil jaime. i'd stopped hearing smashing pumpkins for a while before i met him. now they're everywhere; at dinner, on the radio, on the guy next to me on the plane's headphones way too loudly. mrr.

jfk was the winning card for "easy" tonight, thanks to the fact that i showed hannah clone high earlier. the two cards i won in the game were "easy", which had "promiscuous" as a synonym, and "aggressive". mom was not amused. all the rest of us were, though. could have been improved if i had only won "dirty" as well... ah, sex humor. the only kind expected of a college student. *grins*

in other news, thanksgiving dinner was delicious. it's great to see the family again and just chill, even if mom does wake up *far* too early.

and of course, i missed my freets. they've gotten lighter in coloring and heavier in weight. i almost didn't recognize odie, as he used to be hooded, but now the fur around his mask is all white. his underside is still inky black, though, but his back is all silvery. stitch, on the other hand, got more silver-cinnamon, but her legs and tail are a darker brown now. it's different, but still cute.

plus, they're being super-affectionate. nothing quite like ferret!kisses to wash away the sting of techlife. *cuddles*

i am thankful for my family, that they love me so much and that i can always count on the fact that they are there to catch me if i fall. i am thankful for my ferrets and the simple joy their kisses bring. i am thankful for my health, and my chance to learn at caltech. i am thankful for collaboration policy, and for the greatness of my friends there, both in dealing with class and aside from it. i am thankful for the humor in whiteboards, uno, and glitter. and last but not least, i am thankful for the love of my life. derek, you are the air that i breathe, the water that sustains me, and the little sodium pumps that keep my cells functioning properly. that should mean a lot, coming from a tech!girl. really. *kiss* loving wishes to all, and to all a good night.
