Some of us have all the luck.
My flight from Reno to Denver was beautifully uneventful. My ear never clogged, and with a $5 investment, I was able to watch Discovery Channel's Mythbusters marathon the whole way. The row was empty, sans me, and I stretched out blissfully. So far so good, no?
So then I get to Denver and kill time until my next flight, from Denver to Fort Myers. 10 minutes before the flight is supposed to board, they cancel it, citing Hurricane Dennis as the reason. I wait through the Customer Service line for at least 45 minutes, trying to find out what my chances are of actually making it to Florida within a reasonable timeframe. Thankfully, they have a flight to Tampa, but it's not until 5pm. I can deal with this. I call Jaime to ask him if there's any way they can get me from Tampa, and in the process of this phone call start crying. The stewardess takes pity on me and gives me a $7 lunch voucher. Score! I use it at a semi-fancy sit-down airport restaurant, and end up paying only $5.
Total time spent in Denver: 7 hours.
Thankfully, my Tampa flight was not cancelled. I made it to Florida, and there was a chaffeur with a Lincoln waiting for me. When he turned on the radio, the song playing was "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Good omens, man.
I got to the house safely, despite some swervy driving through heavy rain, and was greeted by my Jaime and his mom, both very pleased to see me arrive in one piece.
So all ends well, right?
Wrong.
I'm typing this with about a 100F fever. It bounces between 99 and 102.5 frequently. This morning, they took me to a doctor, who said I was lucky my tonsils hadn't ruptured. I was instructed to stop taking my Ciprofloxacin and was instead prescribed Biaxin. Does anyone know anything about this shtuff? Basically, it was this, or out-patient IV medication. Yikes.
I was rather surprised at how sick I am, apparently. I was warned to stay away from the elderly and expectant mothers, as my germs-o'-doom could cause problems. Great. Now I'm a threat to society.
So that's my story. I'm sitting in bed, waiting for Jaime to make me some scrambled eggs, so I can eat them, take my Biaxin, and hopefully be well by Saturday. I really want to go to Disneyworld, ya know?
*le sigh* Wish me luck.
