Face my pixellated wrath!
I simply cannot believe the shitstorm around the internet about Nintendo. They named their console Wii - if you don't like it, fine, but remember that it's just a name. People saying that they no longer want the console anymore because of it? That's insanity! If you can say that, then you never wanted the console in the first place. Go back to your Xbox360 and PSP. Seriously, play a game that looks exactly the same as it did on your Xbox but cost more, and watch an over-priced movie that you could've gotten for a DVD player instead of a tiny handheld screen. Go do that. You've got about twenty minutes before your PSP battery dies, and another ten before the 360 games melt your brain entirely, so that's half an hour you've got away from me. Now scurry. Shoo. Rational people need to talk.
Let me cry out my disclaimer once more - I am not a Nintendo fangirl!!! My fingers first touched the sleek buttons of a Colecovision, and I used to say goodnight to my Genesis. The Playstation is my favorite console, and I got a PS2 the month it came out, whereas I obtained my Gamecube much later and at a discount - the Double Dash pack. I don't even play the Gamecube that often! Sure, I love my DS, but that's the only example where Nintendo came out on top for me. Well, that, and the new consoles.
Allow me to elaborate. People cry out that Nintendo is out of touch with gamers. We want better graphics, not gimmicks! Multi-use, not just gaming! Online multi-player, not offline solo! And Goddamnit, Revolution, not Wii!!!
Out of touch with gamers, eh? I guess I'm just not a gamer anymore. Sad, since that's what I've been for my whole life. Honestly, by the time I had my first real memory, the earliest one I can recall at this point in my life, I was already playing games on a regular basis. But people like me just aren't gamers anymore. Those crazy kids sporting terrycloth wristbands with triforces are it, I guess.
Reread that last paragraph. How stupid is that?! Really really, right? So let me outline what I, as a REAL gamer, want:
Less focus on graphics! If all you have to show me is some rubber duckies bouncing in a tub of water *realistically*, your console is not worth my time.
Less online content! I know, it's insanity! But to be honest, I don't like playing online with people I don't know. I find the majority of retards on the internet are, well, retards. Wi-fi for playing against my friends is awesome, and I love multiplayer content, but if your game's big feature is that super-happy-fun-time you spend fighting low level bacteria and teh n00biest of pick-up lines, you need to rethink your career choice.
A game console that is a game console! I don't WANT more features! I want to play games on a game console. I'm not sure when that opinion became a minority, but I'm greatly saddened by it. I watch DVDs with my laptop or a DVD player. I listen to music through my iTunes and iPod. I chat with my friends through AIM, MSN, and GoogleTalk. Why do we need our game consoles to do all this stuff as well? Isn't it better to focus a game console on being good at playing games? In all honesty, I am *less* likely to buy a console with extra features, just because of moral opposition. Chew on that for a bit, Sony.
Something unexpected and fresh! No, adding online features doesn't count. I'm talking DS-style - something that makes the console gaming experience different from any other. Otherwise, the only reason I'd buy a console is so I can play the next Final Fantasy game, and if the series keeps going the way it is, that may not even be enough to persuade me.
Dear God, someone listen to me! I'm honestly at the point where I don't care about gaming news. This is new for me. I've been clamoring for every bit of information for years and years, and now, I care so little that it worries me. It's like one of those commercials telling you to seek help if you feel these symptoms. Well, I am restless, morose, and uninterested by things that used to excite me. I wonder if gaming depression is an actual condition.
P.S. Revolution may make sense in America, but besides being difficult to pronounce for those who weren't raised speaking English, the word is meaningless or even offensive in other countries. Contrary to popular belief, we are not the only people who matter in this world. Even if you don't like Wii, Revolution is so much worse, albeit for different reasons. Besides, you're not Nintendo. Let them do what they want. They have to bear the consequences, good or bad, not you. Just relax.

Oh, and I strongly believe FFXII will be awesome.

I think I'm still bitter about XI. Online only? What? I play games when my schedule permits now, so monthly payments would screw me over royally. Plus, if they could make a tactics game in the Final Fantasy line as a side entry, why couldn't they have done the same with this? Final Fantasy Online, not Final Fantasy XI. My lack of completeness with the series due to that game bothers me immensely. Le sigh.
