A golden lining to my clouds
Alright. Well. I finally seem to be returning to normal. If you want the full story, you can read my post here, but otherwise, just know that I'm feeling okay now.
So, in my revitalized state, I began thinking about the things I need to purchase, that I will actually be able to with some of my SURF money. Here goes:
From Apple's Education Shop
The necessity: White 13" Macbook with 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo +$1200
The splurge: 1 gig of RAM, 120 gig harddrive, iWork preinstalled +$363
The second splurge: 60 gig iPod +$370
Plus tax +$142
Minus rebate on iPod -$180
Minus family contribution -$750
Final cost: $1145
Money left from SURF: $3855
From InCycle
The necessity: Electra Coaster 7D Ladies' bike +$340
Another necessity: Bike lock +$30
The splurge: Resistance trainer +$200
Plus tax +$50
Final cost: $620
Money left from SURF: $3235
And finally
The necessity: A haircut +$40
Plus tip +$5
The splurge: Curl Up Serum +$15
Final cost: $60
Money left from SURF: $3175
If we assume about 10% income tax (it'll probably be much lower than that for just $5000, yeah?), I have $4500 to start with, instead of $5000. This'll leave me with $2675 to put in the bank for later. Not too shabby, I suppose. Especially considering I'll then have a bike and a new computer. Oh, and good hair. Yus.
