rinnia: (fight!)

*bothered*

While waiting for the high voltage amplifier to warm up, I checked in at The Fanlistings. There's a lot of good game subjects open for application right now, and so I looked at the "Did you get my form?" thread to see who was applying for what.

You know what greatly bothers me? The people who wantonly snatch up any topic related to their fandom they can find. I can think of two people, off the top of my head, who apply for sooooo many FF8 related topics that it's ridiculous. I guarantee you I'm a bigger fan of VIII than them - I'd argue that no one's more in love with the game than me - and yet, do you see me applying for any related subject? No! I know how much I love Rinoa - I'm sure there's someone out there who loves Raine that much. Thus, I will not apply, as I know I'm not that person. But these freaks just sit and hit "Apply" for everything from Limit Breaks to Relationships to Supporting Characters - and if the main ones were up for apps, I'm sure they'd be applying for them too.

It makes me unbelievably sick. Schala Zeal from Chrono Trigger is one of those characters who's not playable but is still essential - much like Raijin, or Raine, or whoever. Yes, I applied for her. In fact, I have her. But this is because she's my favorite character from the game. I have one Silent Hill character fanlisting - Lisa Garland. Because she's my absolute favorite. There's no way every supporting character from FF8 who's not claimed yet means that much to you.

It's a simple thought process - can you envision anyone who loves the character more than you? Yes? THEN DON'T APPLY.

Christ's sake, people. Think about how sad that one true fan will be when they discover fanlistings only to find their one and only favorite in your clutches. Revolting.

Aaaaand, I'm done. Back to the Labview writing.
