Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialiiiiiize!
It's been a busy couple weeks for the Alex and Jaime. Plenty of work, not to mention an evening lost to the GREs. Mrrrr. I didn't get a very good verbal score (590), but then I didn't study for one second either, so I guess it's good enough. I did snag an 800 on math, though, which pleases me to no end and puts me well over the 1100 cumulative needed for UF. Yaaaaay!
I did my final SURF presentation this morning - went pretty well, I thought. Got a pleasant surprise when I stepped out of the room to find Jaime waiting just outside the door for me. He'd said he was gonna head back to the apartment after his, as we were in different locations and his presentation was scheduled to end just when mine would start, but instead he stuck around for me. Awwww.
Went to Lush to get more American Cream conditioner. Amazing stuff, that. At first, I thought it wasn't hydrating at all, as my hair felt the same after I washed it out as it did before I put it in. But lo and behold, a miracle occurred as it dried - incredible softness, and a delicious smell to boot! After a couple weeks with it, I couldn't use any other conditioner - they leave too much residue, and just don't soften the same way. While we were there, we picked up a couple bubble bars and other things as well, and spent enough to get a free glitter bar for hair and skin. Loooooooooove the sparklies.
Feeling the awesome Metro vibe, we rode down to the other end of town and got lunch at Togo's, then slipped into Gamestop to preorder Guitar Hero 2. We're getting the bundle with controller, so we'll have two and can play together. GH2 even has a co-op mode where one player is lead guitar and the other is rhythm or bass, depending on the song. Jaime says I have to be the Skwisgaar, to which I whine that I want to be the Toki, but he insists that he gets to be Toki. Then I point out that on some songs he'll be Murderface, and it's his turn to whine about wanting to be Toki. Toughs shit, I say in my best Skwisgaar voice. If I ams to be Skwisgaars, yous must be thems boths.
Our final stop this morning was Target, where we left our bikes parked while we galavanted about town. I fell in love with a pair of dangly star earrings, and so snapped them up. Wearing them right now, actually, and feeling rather punk with my red and black sleeveless shirt, black capris, and wallet chain. Almost makes me wanna break out my high school bracelets again. Heh.
And that's that. It's been a fun day so far, marred only by the fact that I'm sad about missing Disney Halloween again. I've been here four years now, and not once have I managed to see the Halloween Haunted Mansion, though I've wanted to since they started it. There's just so little money and time, though I could work around both of those, but there's no good way to get from here to there. The green and blue lines are a bit scary after dark, and leaving before dark would greatly limit our time in the park, making it almost not worth the effort. At least, other people wouldn't want to put in the hours of travel for an equal time of park wandering. Me? I'd wait a couple hours for the Haunted Mansion all on its own. Love those parks.
Which leads in to my final statement: For a long time, I've said I wanted to work for NASA. Astronaut and all that rubbish. I've come to the conclusion that the level of dedication necessary for that just isn't what I want to put in. I want a family and a life outside of work, time to be with the people I love, and work that stimulates me creatively as well as intellectually. Thus, my dream career is now that of a Disney Imagineer. Artistic design merged with project engineering - animated characters with robotics! Sounds like Heaven.
So. There's where I'm at mentally for the moment. It's a pretty good place to be.
