Floof and bounce!

So, I'm in Florida now. Jaime and I are relaxing for a little bit (month or two) before we start looking for jobs and an apartment. Everything here is so incredibly affordable that I am beyond chill with it. Plus, as soon as we stepped off the plane, the humidity cleared up my sinuses, and the nice softened water soothes the skin and softens the hair. Oh, and I took awesome pictures of a lizard yesterday! He was hanging on the pool cage screen, and everytime I'd leave him alone, another lizard would hop up from a bush on the outside and crawl up to be belly-to-belly with him. I'm fairly certain they were both guys too, so I dubbed it "forbidden love" and snapped dozens of shots. I even got one of the inside lizard with his orange neck pouch out - so detailed you can see the little white bumps on it. Looooooove. I'll post pictures once I stop being lazy and upload the pictures.

Another thing I'll post pictures of is my haircut. See, for the past two months or so, I've been trying unsuccessfully to enact major changes with my hair. Twice I've used Ogilvie at Home kits to straighten it, and though it did *something*, it wasn't too much. Not straight, and no noticeable damage either - I suppose I just have tenacious hair. The original goal was to walk in with straightened hair and pictures of Near *points to the layout* and ask for that cut. Undeterred, I walked into Salon Aguayo 3 days before graduation and asked instead for "something as close as possible that would still look good with my hair."

The stylist (who was a total sweetheart - I highly recommend that place if you're in Pasadena) chatted with me for a while about what she could do, and I ended up with the rockingest bob ever. Seriously. Curlbob = awesome. Before I left, she used a round brush with evil pointy bristles and a blow-dryer to straighten it out and flip the ends under. I loved it - it was swishy and bouncy and tangle-free! Amazingly enough, even with the monster curls, it maintains most of those attributes. I flip it around before it dries so the curls all separate out, thus minimizing tangles (though maximizing volume) and allowing them to move. It comes to just above a polo collar in the back, just above my shoulders on the sides, and has a few little layers in the front, including some long banglies that hit just below my cheekbone on the left.

The very best part, I have to say, is the bedhead effect. Because the norm is poofy and a bit wild, I wake up in the morning and it looks almost the same. A little flatter, and I might have to pat in a stray piece or two, but NOTHING compared to the rat's nest I used to wake up with.

So, if you have curly hair, like to look kinda bouncy, and are willing to take the plunge, go to a reputable salon and ask for the curlbob. I don't think I'll ever let it get long again.
