though christmas itself, along with the rest of the holiday season, is fine, people carry it too far materialistically. what happened to peace on earth, good will toward men, and all those other childhood fairytales? why do kids believe in santa simply so that they will get more presents? who says that you are a "humbug" if you don't have garlands littering your floor with dead needles and a hacked down tree strewn with barbie pink lights before halloween candy is off the supermarket shelves?

i enjoy christmas, because of my family and friends, not because of gifts. they are a perk, yes, but they're not what it's all about.
