Sometimes science is teh suck. Then I write.
I lost one of my
help_haiti auctions, but I won the other, and group meeting was today, but now it's done for another week! So!

avaaricious: The first TEN people to comment on this post get to request that I write a drabble ficlet, because I like them more, of any pairing/character. Feel free to include a prompt as well so I'm not just running blind. Oh, and the first spot is reserved for
terra, as she gave me a prompt many moons ago that I never filled, so... I'll do it now! See? I don't completely suck.
01)
terra - FFVI: Locke/Terra, "sand"
02)
anglepoiselamp - P4/DQ, "Inaba is infested by Dragon Quest slimes and it's up to Souji's gang to deal with it somehow"
03)
anglepoiselamp - FFVI: Kefka, "in a non-villainous capacity"
04)
instrumentality - NGE: Kaworu/Rei, "we're one, but we're not the same"
05)
dresstokill - PW: Phoenix/Mia, "dating the boss"
06)
vithrar - P4/SMB, "some unsuspecting characters from another game, say p4, chance upon a certain mushroom kingdom..."

There likely aren't ten people reading this that would actually like a ficlet from me, so go ahead and request a couple if you have more than one idea. I'll try to knock these out over the next few evenings. Go go go!
Fri 1/22 - I'm planning on getting these five written out tonight. :D
Tue 2/02 - Okay, so it took me far longer than anticipated to actually start on this. I finally did 'em, though! I figure if I can't sleep, I can at least be productive.

- Inaba is infested by Dragon Quest slimes and it's up to Souji's gang to deal with it somehow,
and
- Final Fantasy VI ficlet featuring Kefka in a non-villainous capacity (whether before the game, after the game or in an alternate universe).
*snort* Feel free to ignore these, I'm a dork. :D

Kefka hadn’t been sure what color to go with. Initially, he thought yellow or red might be too matchy-matchy with the accessories, so he ditched both and went with a nice green. Which made him look moldy around the eyes. Okay, so green was out. He played with yellow next, but no matter what shade he picked, it always said less “power” and more “jaundice”. Finally, he toyed with red, but tried to stay away from the searing candy-apple of his collar. Darker shades looked almost like dried blood, which might have been intimidating if his stupid underlings hadn’t been so fixated on whether or not he had an eye infection. On the other hand, pale shades were either too feminine or too bruise-ish (and when he tried to blend the borders with yellow, even he thought it looked like he was recovering from being socked by a chicobo’s tiny feet).
That only left... that red. That bright lipstick red.
Much to his surprise, it actually worked. Bold to catch attention, fiery to command respect, and with that sickly yellow expertly faded in around the edges, unnatural enough to keep the unwary unsettled. Yes, at last he had his make-up conveying precisely the right message.
The plume in his hair, however, was just for textural accent.

“We have to find somewhere to put these!” Yosuke gasps from under an armful of quivering blue goo.
Chie pokes at the mass and grimaces. “What are they?!”
“I don’t know, dude!”
“They’re slimes,” Souji says calmly. He slips one out of Yosuke’s arms and holds it up to his face. It stares back, red smile never wavering.
“Slimes? What do you mean?” Yukiko takes the slime from him gingerly and runs a cautious hand over its point. “Are they shadows?”
“Nope,” Rise says, and by her side Teddie shakes his head and glowers.
Yosuke drops his haul, slimes bounding every which way across the Junes food court. “Does it matter what they are? We have to put them somewhere!”
“Why’d you gather them up, anyways?” Chie says, frowning down at a slime bouncing on the tongue of her shoe. “Why not just take ‘em out?”
“I tried,” Yosuke groans. “Stupid things absorbed my kunai.”
Sure enough, two slimes with kunai visible in their translucent jelly bodies stop by Souji’s feet. With a smile, he picks them up.
Yosuke squints at him. “Okay, you are taking this way too well.”
“C-can I keep them?”
Everyone turns wide eyes to Kanji.
“W-well,” he stammers, “we can’t let ‘em stay here.”
“Kanji-kun’s idea has merit,” Naoto says, a thoughtful finger on her chin. “The textile shop is both nearby and closed today. We could store them there temporarily while we devise a more sustainable long-term plan.”
“Don’t,” Souji tries to warn them, but for once, nobody listens to the leader. Hours later, when they return to the textile shop with wheelbarrows full of even more slimes and are greeted by not the numerous little guys they left behind, but one massive grinning blob complete with shiny crown, Souji rolls his eyes. “I tried.”

This is so AWESOME. Souji would totally be like that, and Kanji would be unable to resist the cuteness! I think he would refuse to give up on the king slime, insisting that it's still cute and that he would feed it and take it for walkies every day. ^___^

Edit to add: You are so right about Kanji. He'd be squished underneath, still yelling that he can handle it. XD
hiatusing, but i can't resist this.
Re: hiatusing, but i can't resist this.
His mouth is different, though; initially she thought it might just be a contrast in their expressions, but when his lips are pressed against hers, she can feel just how much longer his are, the curve of his wide smirk overwhelming the slight dash of her mouth. He says something about kissing by proxy, and the red of his eyes (the way they’re not brown, not at all) almost scalds. His hand catches hers, slides up her arm, delves under her shirt sleeve to pinch at the impossibly unblemished skin of her shoulder, and he’s cold. She knows he must be, because she is, always is, and he feels just like her. He calls her Rei, and she ignores him. He calls her Lilith, and she kisses him hard in some surge of something that she can’t quite identify just because she knows he wouldn’t. Just because she knows it’s not in their nature to be impulsive (even though she’s aware that some other her was impulsive when it really counted – that’s why she’s here). She doesn’t think he has it in him to do something like that. When push comes to shove, he’ll follow the path set for him. She would’ve done that once. She’s not sure now.
It’s that small (false, but she doesn’t know it yet, and won’t until after he’s gone, self-sacrificed just like her by an impulse just like hers to save the same person she saved) difference that lets her let go for a moment. She lays back and tries to overlook the way their hipbones match like paperdoll chains. At least his palm feels warm on her breast. That’s enough.

“Not yet, chief. I’m going right now.”
“And that call to Mr. Armstrong?”
“Um. About that.”
Mia touches her forehead and sighs. “Phoenix.”
“I-I tried! He’s busy.”
“Then I guess you’ll have to find another caterer.”
“Me?”
“Of course.”
Arms full of documents to be filed, Phoenix slumps just the tiniest bit more. Mia half-smiles at him apologetically.
“One more thing.”
He snaps to attention. Or tries to. The papers jolt in his grasp and almost tumble out, leaving him stumbling and adjusting his hold on them nervously. “Yes, chief?”
“Make dinner reservations for two.”
“New client?”
She chuckles. “Not exactly.”
“Huh.” He’s thinking about it, nose all crinkled up as his gaze slides skyward, and when the moment of realization hits, Mia can’t help but smile at his flushed, slack face.
“Pick wherever you’d like.”
“Y-yes, chief!”
He’s a few steps away when she rises from her desk and, striding after him, says, “Oh, and Phoenix?”
“Yes?”
She pecks his blushing cheek lightly. “Make those copies first.”

Locke/Terra, "Sand"
“Of course!” Terra shouts.
His fingers flex against her waist. “We haven’t gone that far yet. We could go back and get separate chocobos, for... comfort.”
She glances back over her shoulder at him, tugging the reins to slow their pace. “Are you uncomfortable?”
“No! Well, a little, but...” He swallows. “Isn’t it awkward for you, trying to control this thing with me hanging on?”
The chocobo comes to a complete stop now, blinking curiously back at its riders. Terra bows her head, and when her voice reaches him, it’s airy with a smile. “I like having you close.”
“Okay then.” Locke slides his arms tighter around her. “Let’s go.”
By the time Figaro Castle draws into view, Locke’s face is windburnt (though he’s sure Terra’s is worse), his arms are cramped up and tired, and his boots are filled with what he thinks must be at least five pounds of sand (who knows? Maybe some rare gems are hiding in there too), but if he’s honest, he’s doesn’t really care.
