Like oil on the water's surface.
If you have any interest whatsoever in wingfic, you should cart yourself over here to A Crash Course in Falling. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of
carolinecrane's stuff, and man, is this no exception. It's sweet and somehow realistic. And it deserves fanart.
Oh, and Caroline, I made some corrections to this first piece since I e-mailed it to you; it's better now. :)

He reaches for Puck without thinking, catching one of Puck’s hands and gripping hard when Puck tries to pull away. He holds on, waiting for the pain to kick in, eyes wide when all he feels is a weird calming sensation settling in his chest.
“Kurt? Are you...what’s happening?”
“It didn’t hurt,” Kurt says, and he knows he sounds breathless, but he can’t make himself care. “When you touched me, it didn’t hurt. It still doesn’t hurt.”
He drops his phone and reaches for Puck with his other hand, sliding it up his arm and gripping his shoulder. They’re still...well, sort of holding hands, and Kurt drags Puck’s hand toward him and presses it against his chest.

It was such a great story and it was wonderful of you to visually capture it for Caroline.

Yes, I looooove the transparent wing idea. I couldn't decide whether I'd rather Kurt get his public life back or keep his new self whole; the actual outcome made me choke up a little, honestly. So perfect.

They're all fantastic and the expression on Kurt's face in that first one is gorgeous. I'm particularly fond of the last one just because it's hilarious how mortified Kurt is by his wings and their crush on Puck. And I kept forgetting, even while I was writing this thing, that Kurt wanders around with no shirt on for essentially the entire fic. Bless.

I had such a good time drawing that last one. The first one took me forever to stop fiddling with and the second one went through about a dozen redesigns, but the third came out pretty much how I pictured it. Oh, Kurt. Poor kid.
