i've got a lovely bunch of coconuts
in order:
- 10am: calculus. it ended up being more number theory than anything else. ten minutes into class, an admin came in and informed us that if we were in section 1 (the one that includes a basic calc review - which i need after a year off), the room had been changed. 153, she said. so the group of us wandered out of the lecture hall and began looking for room 153. after ten minutes of searching, we all came to the conclusion that baxter hall has no room 153. upon returning to the classroom, we learned that section 1 was in room 153, *sloan* laboratories. just a minor detail she left out. O.o;;;
when we arrived in sloan and at the mythical room 153, ada (the prof) was waiting with a big note on the board that read "where is everyone?!" she then proceeded to teach us about number sets, much to my dismay (i hate theoretical math), then gave us a nice problem set despite it being rotation and covering topics which we have not even began to touch on yet. beautiful. i've never hated math before, but hey, college is a time of change, right? - 11am: chemistry. prof nate lewis seems funny and nice. the lecture class is rather large, but once a week we'll have recitations working in small groups with ta's, so that makes up for it. the grading seems fair and doable, but not too easy. it is pass/fail, after all, so slacking results not in a d but in simple failure. i doubt i'll have that problem; i've never been a slacker. too much guilt. *pokes her shoulder angel*
- noon: lunch. i had it in dabney house today, along with steve, randall, and matt. dan lives there, so of course he was around, and that definitely made it more entertaining. mom's sending brownies for me and dan, as he walked by during our phone convo last night and made a good impression with his quirkiness, i suppose. i have dinner in ruddock tonight, which will be good, as i know very little of that house right now. steve and joseph will be there too, so it should be good.
- 1pm: physics. monday is apparently recitation day, and as there have been no lectures yet, there's nothing to discuss. thus no class. *^_^* i got a vanilla latte brainfreezer from the red door cafe and called mom. 'twas satisfying.
- 2pm: japanese. hirai-sensei is adorable. she is seriously the stereotypical sweet, quiet, giggly japanese female. it was really great. i truly love that language, and we learned ten hiragana in one day. *ten*! this has the potential to become my favorite class. good thing, since i have it every weekday. ;p
- 3pm: done for now. i'm gonna do the chem quiz at four, then probably try and do one of the math problems before dinner. i have karate at 7pm tonight, so i won't be able to stay at the ruddock reception long. i have countered this somewhat by dressing for gym now. that at least will cut down on how long before class i actually have to leave.
