and now, headline news!

the missing ip address
so i went to log online at some point saturday, and the internet just wouldn't connect. technically, it said i was logged on, but neither aim nor msn messenger would sign on, and i couldn't get any webpages to load. so, after much investigation, earlier today i discovered the problem: somehow i had lost my ip address. it was set to autofind one, and thus was not the tech-assigned little sequence i need. so, i scoured old e-mails, figured out which site would tell me what i needed, looked up my ip again, and redid the settings. thus, my absence was brief, but it was an absence. and i have returned from it. huzzah.

joys of runaway dinner
formal dinner in ruddock house was friday night. it started out pleasant enough; cathy and i sat at a table with other frosh, since the 4-frosh limit was lifted for that night, and the smoked salmon appetizer was excellent. the waiters took our orders, and i opted for the lobster and chipotle pasta, eager to try this dish that jon had said was so very good at the page formal dinner. time passed, and the people around us got their food. cathy was even brought her vegan entree, but alas, no food came to the rest of our table. half an hour passed, and everyone finished eating before we had even a glimpse of our fabled food. it was then that priolo informed us the little lobsters had "run away", and they had to cook some fresh ones. sorry for the wait, but it will be fresh, after all, i was told. and indeed, it was worth the wait. not only were we gifted raspberry sorbet with dark chocolate to tide us over while we waited, but when the lobster came, it was both delicious and plentiful: they gave us two tails a piece to make up for the delay! so i enjoyed much lobster and chipotle pasta, got two desserts for the price of one, and drank much sprite and apple juice along the way. i declare this a smashing success.

priorities, priorities
i got physics lab done saturday night, which is awesome, for now i have nothing due until thursday. the physics quiz and japanese test i did in a timely manner last night, and am expecting good scores on both. *however*. cathy and i foolishly put off math for far too long and ended up working from about 11:30pm to 5:40am. granted, i did take a quick shower around 4am, but still. yikes. also, i have apparently developed the talent to turn off my alarm in my sleep. i did it once before, and i did it again this morning. as a result, physics section was much neglected, but hey - i did get that extra bit of sleep. heh.

video or computer: why decide?
age of empires ii kicks ass. so does castlevania: lament of innocence, despite my tendency to get absolutely stomped by the enemies. a lot. ffx-2 was much fun, and will be fun again once i get my guide in the mail. silent hill 3 could be fun if i decide to buy it with some of my newly acquired funds. (thanks momie!) all in all, the gaming is good. i's a happy little geek.
