*hops off the proverbial cliff*

two of you peoples have done the "thirty songs" thing. so now, i must as well. here goes:

- up in arms - foo fighters
i like foo fighters a lot overall, though none of their songs really stand out to me, save the singles for sheer repetition's sake. regardless, 'tis a good song.

- the glory of love (cover) - new found glory
ahhh, i love this one! the whole cover cd is just awesome, and this one in particular i find appealing. the near chanting section makes me giggle every time.

- jerry springer - weird al yankovic
gotta love weird al, and this is a particularly that's-pop-culture-for-ya one. too humorous, and the tune is still as catchy as it was when the barenaked ladies first released the original.

- i hope i didn't just give away the ending - new radicals
ooo, i haven't listened to this cd in a long time. still as pretty as i remember it being, though. may have to give that whole disc a re-listen now.

- lucky time - local h
pack up the cats, indeed. local h is shit-kicking fun. don't ask me what that means, but it just sounds right. one way or another, *thumbs up*.

- medication - garbage
funny, i just started getting into garbage again a few days ago, and here it appears. shirley manson has a strangely riveting voice, and the accompanying music is noteworthy as well. good stuff.

- noise and kisses - the used
ah, audio!gasm. much lurving for the used. *plus*, this is definitely one of my favorite songs by them, topped only by "blue and yellow", i think. sooooo shiver-inducing when bert's voice gets high in the later choruses. *squee*

- someone - the rembrandts
good childhood memories. i used to listen to these guys all the time. they're still good, despite the corniness of some of their songs. i still find myself smiling everytime i listen to them.

- polly - nirvana
no playlist is complete without "nevermind". seriously. any song off of it, and i'm pretty happy. this one's no exception.

- pantomime - orgy
oh how the middle school memories return. industrial 80's-synth-style fun. though i don't listen to them nearly as much as i used to, they're still good when i'm in the mood for that tone of stuff.

- hellborn - unwritten law
i do enjoy unwritten law quite a bit. too bad this is one of my least favorite songs by them. ah well. the nanana's are rather cheesy and trite, i say. meh. *shrugs*

- secretly - skunk anansie
ooo, and the second audio!gasm in this list! my itunes loves me, yes it does. skunk anansie is so very underrated. if you've never heard them, right this grievous wrong asap. and buy post-orgasmic chill. give them your money; they deserve it. chill-inducing vocals. no joke. gah.

- chop suey - system of a down
this does indeed confirm the itunes-loves-me-so-very-much hypothesis. third audio!gasm, and the second one in a row. wow. considering my playlist is almost three thousand songs, that's impressive. anyway, about the song. besides being a single, which makes for fun bouncing along with the radio in the car, it has the perfect balance of screaming and harmony. even momie enjoys this one. if by some chance you haven't heard it, do so. not even asap, now. go. listen. fall in love as i did.

- woke up this morning - nickelback
nickelback is alright. nothing too special overall. they have some very good songs, but most are nothing spectacular. this is one of those average ones. his voice is quite enjoyable, though. eh. mixed feelings on this song.

- slave - weezer
quite frankly, it's hard to go wrong with weezer. much lurv for rivers. no exception here. *heart bubbles* sing it, rivers. geek!pride.

- dive - beforu
ahaha, ddr had to come up at some point! *bounces* so very fun. i believe i have the lyrics almost memorized, and i only understand a select few of them. *grins* makes me want to walk the mile and a half to the arcade just to play it on the machine.

- elephant love medley - ewan mcgregor, nicole kidman, and jamie allen
again with the heart bubbles. moulin rouge gets to me on so many levels, and this is such a sweet songs. makes me giggly and ready to swoon. i even rented the dvds from the coffeehouse on friday. must... watch...!!!

- karma police - radiohead
you happy now, jaime? i really dislike radiohead. really really do not like them at all. however. i do have a weakness for three of their songs - talk show host, creep, and this one. somehow, with only three songs by them out of three thousand, one managed to make its way in. damnit. ah well, i still like the song. hrm.

- simple lies - endo
daredevil was a crappy movie, but damn, its soundtrack was awesome. this is just one example of the superb music. just goes to show, suckage is not a package deal. *proudly displays her daredevil soundtrack*

- never you mind - semisonic
i need a term other than audio!gasm. i feel as though i'm using it too much. one way or another, this is the fourth one on the list that i cannot hear without singing along and moving my hips to the beat. i got back into semisonic a few weeks ago, and may be bugging cathy and jaime with my pleas for them to listen to "feeling strangely fine". 'tis a very good cd. *nodnod*

- screenager - muse
and i suspect the lop is muchly pleased by this one. muse is, much like skunk anansie, highly underrated. give them your money so that they may produce more music. *clears her throat* anyway. vocally, it's vaguely reminiscent of queen, but in a non-repetitive, purely good musical merit basis. and the keyboards are quite lovely. good stuffin's.

- mr. self destruct - nine inch nails
trent reznor is the absolute deity of scary industrial noises. except possibly akira yamaoka, most notably for the silent hill soundtracks. this song is actually one of my favorites, despite its absolute incoherency. good for when you're in that mood where nothing is bright and sunny and all the world should be shoved away. painfully. you know what mood i'm talking about. yeah...

- forever may not be long enough - live
one of momie's favorite bands. very good music topped with such pretty lyrics. ah. *is muchly soothed*

- fly (featuring super cat) - sugar ray
yeah yeah, i know. i'm such a pop!nerd. the rest of the cd was such heavy thrashing, this track seems utterly out of place. i can't help but bop to it, though. hee. and it's not quite so bad since it's not every other song on the radio anymore. O.o;;;

- everything - taproot
taproot was so very great in concert. *pets her concert waterbottle* the moshpit was crazy. and above all else, the music was every bit as good as on the cds. so yes. it sounds even better now that i can verify they're not too studio-doctored.

- your southern can is mine - the white stripes
bwahaha. such awesome stuff. they're about the only band of my choosing that joe will willingly listen to. well, them and "diorama" by silverchair, but still. this song in particular is no "hotel yorba", but 'tis still great. *tilts her head from side to side with the tamborine*

- morningstar - afi
ah, afi and their devil references. still a pretty song, regardless. strings + semi-acousticness = much fluff and shimmer. i especially like the little background thing that plays right after "am i your anything" in the second chorus. *shivers*

- the melting point of wax - thrice
thrice = much good rock. need i say much more? his vocals are particularly nice in this song. *squeaks*

- hot buttered popcorn (techno mix) - aphex twin
*giggles madly* the group once blasted this song from steve's computer while someone down the hall was playing it full blast as well. the notes clashed and it sounded awful, but we were nearly hysterical in our laughter. except jaime. he's the one techno-lover in the group, and he hates this song. go fig. *shrugs* one way or another, it's wormed its way into my and cathy's hearts. we tend to play it quite a bit. that, and the cell block tango. *evil smirk*

and finally, - tongue tied - eve 6
mmm. do like eve 6 much. his voice appeals to me in some weird way, mostly because it's so unusual. i do enjoy both the music and the vocals greatly. that, and the whole idea of a "cocked and loaded" tongue intrigues me. *is intrigued*

and i'm done. time for sleep. chem can be done tomorrow. *sulks*

edit (1:21am): am now listening to educated fool, and suddenly realized that there was no hoobastank on that list. or silverchair. or incubus! damn, i guess itunes doesn't love me after all. *pouty lip* ah well. i have it now. *shnuggles her hooba discs*
