Your neighbor gets her hair cut. She tells you that the salon is either going to throw her hair out or give it to wigmakers to benefit those suffering from cancer. "It's up to you," she finishes, "to decide what happens."

Now imagine that instead of being wig material, her hair contains a compound that could help cure cancer. Do you let scientists do research with it to advance medicine and save lives, or do you tell the salon to burn it?
