From delicious to dbluuuuuuuh.

And now, a brief rundown of the delectable alimentations to be found at the three hospitals we've been to lately.

Fawcett
Convenience: Some of the nurses will order guests a lunch tray; some of them won't. They'll all offer you danishes in the morning and turkey sandwiches later in the day, though. The cafeteria is spotless and has coolers, some grill items under warming lamps, and a few fresh specials of the day. Pricewise, Fawcett's the most reasonable of the three. $5 can get you a decent meal.
Taste: Good. Jaime abhors the turkey sandwiches, while I think they're tastylicious. The cafeteria fare is pretty run-of-the-mill. Most items, like burgers and fries, taste just like you'd expect, though this chicken and peppers thing we've gotten twice was rather good. Chances are you'll be pleased.

Charlotte Regional
Convenience: Ungreat. Bitches never get me a tray. Cafeteria options are limited and overpriced (if you want an extra set of plastic flatware, they will charge you), plus the area itself is a little skeevy. Nothing kills the appetite faster than a fly buzzing about the salad bar. Dinner will likely cost you $7 and taste like $3.
Taste: As mentioned above, not so snappy. The fries are scrumptious when warm, and the sandwich bar has good quality ingredients, but the main entrees will leave you cold. And thirsty. And probably still hungry too. You know there's an issue when you spot something tastier looking than your dinner on the patient's tray, and when you get back to the caf, nothing even close to the sort is visible anywhere. Sigh.

Moffitt
Convenience: Meh. To be fair, we've done inpatient stuff there mostly, but the few outpatient excursions we've had, they've offered nil to me and only weaksauce box lunches to Jaime. If you're admitted, there's a pantry that's accessible 24 hours a day where you can get soda, ice cream, cereal, soup, and some other goodies without limit. Technically it's supposed to be patients only, but the nurses have told me before to help myself, sweet things that they are. The cafeteria is clean and well-lit, though cramped during peak hours, with tons of good food options. The only real drawback is the limited hours and the sometimes sporadic pricing. A meal will run you $4-8.
Taste: From decent to FAB! Dinner entrees can run the whole gambit depending on what it is, when the tray was brought out, yadda yadda. I've only been real disappointed once or twice. The true gem, however, is the grill. It's only open from 10:30 to 1:30, I think, and it's most always crowded, but it's definitely worth the hassle. You order and they cook it fresh. The Philly Steak Sandwich is a personal favorite of mine, and not just among hospital food. Just another reason Moffitt's the coolest place to go for chemo.

Time for my home dinner. Mmmmm.
