Userpic meme!
Jaime and I spent all day yesterday cleaning. Pictures of our room and its brightly colored (I'm such a kid sometimes) contents may follow later. For now, though, it's meme time.
Meme instructions:
1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose if you damn well feel like it.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Mine were selected by
middlerelief. Here goes:

My default icon possibly for all time, as I just love it that much, which features a slime from the Dragon Quest series. Dragon Warrior/Quest III was my very first video game, and I've had a soft spot for slimes, the starter enemy and mascot of the series, ever since. Do you remember those Dr. Scholl's commercials? Where they'd ask if you were gellin'? Well, the cheesy sayings stuck with me. Take that plus one cute and gelatinous evil guy, and you get this userpic.

Those, my friends, are two ferrets named Jesus and Slasher with crosses carved in their foreheads, waving money at President Bush. Yep. I just thought the image was funny. Plus, it has ferrets. Ferrets are always good.

Hoo boy. That's Yukari and Tomo (in silhouette) from Azumanga Daioh. Tomo was late to class (I think? It's been a while since I watched the whole series) and decided to punish herself by standing out in the hallway holding buckets of water. Problem is, she's a total spaz, and needless to say, she ends up toppling over. That's her teacher sweatdropping at it all. It's good for when I either don't understand what the heck is going on or have been acting a little too Tomo myself.

Squall is hot. That picture of Squall is not. It's just a few frames, but his face looks really funky, and it makes me giggle because I'm kind of simple and easily amused. My step-dad Joe likes to tell that joke a lot, so when I was trying to come up with some text about being ugly, that's what popped into my head. I ought to find more use for that one. Hmm.

megalomaniageek and posted in the comments at
fanficrants. It was in response to another one of those rants about using "purple prose" (read: descriptive words) instead of being blunt and literal, oh no! I'm not a fan of actual purple, thesaurus-smacked prose either, but there is a reason why people try to write that way. Do not fear the imagery.
Bonus pic!

JOSHUA. <3 He IS cute. And an asshole. And I adore him. Joshua is from The World Ends With You (which every DS owner should play; go, go NOW) and he... um... how to put this without spoilers... he likes the main character? He's an evasive, smug, giggly guy who will either grind on your last nerve or become your favorite character. For me, he did first one, then the other. He's one of my favorite characters from just about anything now, sitting prim in the "creepy boy" tier with Near and Kaworu. Oh, and if you do play the game? Play the whole thing. There's a lot more to the story than there appears to be early on, and revelations as late in coming as documents from a second playthrough may change the way you view some characters. Just saying.
