Dim sum, drafts, and a demi-fiend.

Jaime's friend Ming Qi told him about an authentic Chinese restaurant not too far from our apartment, so we went on an adventure this morning into Haile Plantation and had dim sum. I've never actually had it before, so while I had a vague idea of what to expect, I wasn't sure. I needn't have worried - it was delicious. We split eight dishes - fried scallion dumplings, steamed spare ribs, fried pork dumplings, stuffed tofu, pan-fried taro cake, fried squid, Chinese broccoli, and custard buns - and a pot of jasmine tea, and absolutely every bit of it was wonderful. So, if you're ever in Gainesville, you'd like good Chinese food, and you're not afraid of winding through some residential-y areas to find it, look for South Garden Restaurant. I'd recommend everything we tried. Seriously. Great across the board.

I've recently discovered an inordinate amount of love for one of the most misunderstood beverages out there: beer. I'm a Sam Adams girl - tried Guinness and enjoyed it, but not as much, and had some BL with Lime, but it mostly tasted like a lime seltzer; not bad at all, just not beer so much. I've also had Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which I adored. As far as Sam Adams goes, the Boston Lager is a great place to start. Not too malty, not too hoppy, just a well-balanced beer with a nice flavor and easy availability. At this point, in addition to the Boston Lager, I've had (in order of preference) Pale Ale, Irish Red, Double Bock, Blackberry Witbier, Brown Ale, Octoberfest, and Dunkelweizen, and liked them all. I think it's safe to say that I'm more of an ale fan than a lager one. Both have their merits, but I tend to like the ale-style, hop-heavy beers more. Anyway, my basic point is that beer seems to be the fallback thing that young adults choose to get drunk on because it's cheap and easy to find. That, my friends, is a tragedy. There's a lot of depth to be found in beer tasting, just the same as with wine, I'd say. And now I'll get off my soapbox. There's Boosh to be had, so I may as well sit back down and watch.

Oh, wait, before I go - I beat Matador! :D Took me three tries, the bitch, and a fair amount of random demon gathering until I could fuse a reasonable party. I ended up going with an ingested Hifumi magatama and Sukunda learned and only two other party members: Nozuchi with Sukukaja and Counter and Uzume with Media. I spammed Sukunda 2x and Sukukaja 2x right at the start of battle to make him possible to hit, then stuck with physical attacks and healing as necessary. After getting him down enough that he started using Andalucia, I summoned Inugami for his Feral Bite ability and just laid into him. It was close - I was one hit away from death (barring a healing spell, which was likely to make it in time, but still) when Nozuchi finished Matador off with a Counter. A Counter. Such sweet justice.

Okay, now I'm done. Boosh!
