Oh god, why did I write this much?

And now, since I've been away for so long (like a week? Brutal.), it's time for an epically lengthy post of blathering and pics!

... Cut in sections for your skipping ease.

So, happy holidays, all! Hope everyone else's respective celebrations went well. My Christmas was partially spent driving. Not a bad thing, actually; we chose the timing specifically to avoid as much traffic as possible. A few days before Christmas, we drove down to visit Jaime's mom (and her pup, Zion, of course) and engage in some relaxation - limited, though, as I broke up my Gordon Ramsay-watching and Sims 2-playing with research work on the lappy - with TV, cookies, and gifts. I made out pretty well. Check it:

A peace sign necklace with matching tiny tamborine. I'm not sure which part I like more. The bag this was in also had a bottle of Philosophy Candy Cane shower gel and some tins of Altoids. My mint obsession is becoming more obvious, methinks.

The coolest robe ever. But wait - there's more!

The coolest pajama shirt ever! Man, if you'd told me ten years ago I'd be psyched to get a bright pink, fuzzy Hello Kitty shirt, I would've rolled my eyes and possibly flipped you off. I was kind of a cunt.

Anyway!

Seriously, check the fuzzy. Love. And the best part...

Companion socks! They're so devastatingly warm that I can't wear them often (it doesn't help that I'm kind of a barefoot wonder 95% of the time when I'm home anyway), but when I actually need them, oh yeah. They do the trick.

I also got the most amazing peacoat ever. It's gray, wool, double-breasted, and hooded. Why no, I haven't been looking for a coat like that for a while now; why do you ask? I would have pictures of that too, trust, except I'm a complete dope and left it in Port Charlotte, hanging lonely from Adam's closet door. From what I hear, though, it's in the mail and should be here Monday or so. Fingers crossed. It's been kinda chilly here lately; the sooner I can gear up in it, the better.

Our travel gamble worked out pretty well - the drive back to Gainesville went pretty quick. Well, as quick as three hours in the car can go. But we had great things waiting for us: a prime rib in the fridge, a snake in the terrarium, and more gifts under the tree! As for the first two items, Jacks is well and shiny, if not a bit sluggish from the cold, and the prime rib was delicious We cooked it to 108F internal, and it came out just perfect. Plus, Jaime rendered some of the fat from the cap to saute brussel sprouts in and used the pan scrapings for au jus, which we cooked some mushrooms in as well. Add onto that some garlic handmashed potatoes, two bottles of Sam Adams Noble Pils, and my pumpkin pie... it was a good day. A full day that we can't do the likes of very often, but a good one.

But before all of that, while the prime rib was juicing its slow way up to 108, there were gifts.

Counterbalances the Hello Kitty pajamas, wouldn't you say? But that's not the best part.

That's the best part. I've pointed out science-y flaws on their site a couple times, and Jaime mentioned that when ordering the book. Actually, that may not be the best part either.

This might be. So cool. And seriously...

This one alone makes me nod my head contentedly like a badass. Because I'm cool like that.

I also got a Ped Egg, which I'm sure no one needs pictures of (though I do have a few, as the results are a combination of disgusting and hilarious), and... and...

I have the best boyfriend ever.

Seriously. He gives me this, even though he knows it means he'll lose me to it for weeks. That's love.

I'm working my way through it a few hours every evening. It didn't take long for it to completely catch my heart.

All it took was one startling moment of almost breaking the fourth wall.

It's kind of Nocturne meets The World Ends With You, which is a great premise in my book. The implementation just makes it even better - battles are a combination of SRPG and standard SMT turn-based. You move around on a grid and when you attack, you enter into a first-person turn-based battle for only a turn or two. The same element-based, weakness-heavy system that's present in other recent SMT games show up here. The combination of strategy grids which allow you to get completely surrounded by enemies and unforgiving exploitation of weaknesses if you're not prepared adequately make this game hard. Not undoable, but still quite a challenge. I'm pretty much eating it up. I'm in the third day right now, stuck for the moment at a particularly tricky battle (I think it's the last one of the day), and I'm hooked. Completely lost.

Is anyone else playing this? What people are you guys prioritizing? I'm going completely spoiler-free on this one, so I don't know anything besides that your choices affect what ending you get (natch). Personally, I'm most curious about Haru and Honda, though Atsuro, Shoji, and Izuna are intriguing as well, and somehow I keep getting suckered into Midori's events. I can't resist a battle.

Needless to say, my replay of P4 has gotten a bit sidelined. Not before I noticed this, though:

Indentified. Oh, P4. <3

Bonus: Jaime did an emoticon summary of P4. Needless to say, thar be spoilers and one tiny continuity error that I'm ashamed to admit I'm actually enough of a hopeless fangirl to have noticed.

Last little thing I'll throw at you in this post - I've been having fun with my clothing colors this week. Screw shirts with slacks, and screw tees with jeans too! Behold - my semi-fashionable endeavors in hastily-scribbled-in-pen-and-colored-pencil form:

Monday: the decal on the shirt is a sparkly spiderweb

Tuesday: with and without the Mario sweatshirt

Wednesday: I love my furrily vest

Today finds me in the green pants, a gray and yellow striped shirt, and a bright magenta vest with turquoise circle-quilting. Clearly, I am stylish.

Hmmm. I never even mentioned all the neat-o stuff Jaime got for Christmas. Maybe it's time for him to post once more. *poke poke* Gah, and I just remembered like five more things to talk about. No. No more here. I'll post again later.
