May. 14th, 2005 09:27 amAlright, let's do this. From
ultimademon:
1. Are you going to visit down south, and if so, when do you think you shall?
Yes, I'm definitely hoping to visit, and the plan is for this summer, actually. Your mom has said that she might take us to Disneyworld when I'm there, so I'm psyched. I'll get to visit Jaime, meet you and your mom, and have a fun vacation! Should be good, if it all works out.
2. What is your favorite (video)game at the moment, and why?
In the back of my mind, FF8 is always my favorite. But the flavor of the week? Hmmm. Either Silent Hill 4 or Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. 4 is the only Silent Hill I haven't finished, so I'm very anxious to find out what happens, and FF:CC is just plain fun. I've never really had anyone to play a game like that with me before. It's a pretty new experience, and I like it.
3. The subconscious: Realm of infinite thought and conception or just the part of the brain that sleeps?
First off, disclaimer: I may be a science geek, but I'm not a biologist, so I have no physical knowledge about the brain, yah? Anyway, in my opinion, it's somewhere between the two. As it stands, unavailable at most moments, it is just sleeping and is of very limited use. However, if one was able to access their subconscious, I imagine it could develop and become usable, in essence, increasing your capabilities. At this point, the sheer increase in brain power would make it feel as if it had held all thought and conception, and you have now accessed it.
4. Favorite character from literature of all time?
Cal from Steinbeck's East of Eden, though Quentin from Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury was close as well. I find the deepest and complex characters the most enjoyable, since they give you so much to think through, and that's why Cal is my favorite. His struggle between the inherent darkness of his Cain position and the moral consciousness wrought in him by his father's role as an Abel figure is endlessly fascinating to me. I sympathized with him through every turn of the novel, and when the end came, even though I had expected it, I still couldn't help but be affected by it. He's definitely the character that left the biggest impression on me.
5. What are your career plans post-college/grad school?
You know, two years ago, I would have been able to answer this question very quickly. I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer and work for NASA, hopefully becoming a mission specialist on shuttle flights. Now, though, I'm not sure. I know that I enjoy solids and structures quite a bit, and engines are pretty interesting as well. I'm thinking I'll go into robotics somehow, maybe still with the NASA scheme in mind. Someone has to make the probes and sample gathering units, and I'd like it if that person was me. Of course, knowing how the world is, it's very possible that I'll end up somewhere else entirely. I just hope that whatever career grabs me, I can be creative and actually influence what the results are. If I could have that, I think I'd be happy.
And now, the backstory and the continuation:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
