Adapted from vileplumage's idea on tumblr:
1. Give me a pairing and/or fandom.
2. Give me a prompt and/or an AU setting.
3. I'll write you a ficlet and/or draw you a picture.
Boom, bitches. Busy me up.
A post of woe and whining.
Nov. 6th, 2012 03:21 pm- So, we moved! Not very far, only about a 45 minute drive, but still. Moving sucks. Ugh. At least it's because Jaime found a job, so now we're both safely away from the horror that is academia. I kind of hate the town we moved to, but that's just because it's not Chicago big and/or interesting. It's really no worse than where we were before. I... yeah. Yeah, that's about it.
- I guess I'm getting married? Jaime and I have been together for over eight years, so it's not like anything's really changing, but... I dunno. We're getting married so I can get health insurance. It kinda sucks. I figured when I did get married it'd be... something. And I was always planning to take his name, but now that it's actually happening, I'm torn. I don't want to go through all the hassle of changing all my official stuff when nothing else is changing. No ceremony, no engagement, no real proposal even. Reality sucks, is the point here, I suppose. I know everyone says this, but I'm planning on only getting married once, and for it to happen with such little fanfare and in relative isolation and for such a mundane, practical reason... damnit. Just. Just damnit.
- I'm hormonal and I forgot to take my meds last night so my brain is a mushed up mess of profanity and nerves and I can't stop crying. Aasdlkfjpaoweijfasdlkfj-

Because I like kiwis.
Oct. 23rd, 2012 12:22 amFinally caved and got a tumblr, but Rinnia was taken. D: So I'm Kiwoa!
On Friday, we went to check out an apartment near Jaime's new job, about 45 minutes away from our then-domicile. Ended up moving today. So much packing. I AM TIRED. Plus, no internet until next week, so I'm relying on my phone's 3G to keep me sane. Virtual keyboard - blah.

Kick in the Ass
Sep. 9th, 2012 08:28 pmBecause I haven't been writing... um.. at all, lately, and I really want to be, I both dug up my unused
au_bingo card from a couple years ago and requested a
kink_bingo card. ( Cut for cards and brainstorming )
I'm also thinking about signing up for Yuletide. I've never done it before, so I'm a bit nervous, but it sounds fun, and I'd kill to read some Goon or Catherine fic. I've exhausted the handful of fics for the former, and literally NOTHING exists for the latter, soooo...

I can has my own holiday?
Aug. 5th, 2012 10:18 pmObligatory Ship Flail:
- Everyone ships Sterek.
- Kaner and Tazer are adorbs.
On to the main point - so. I like making stuff. It's kind of my thing. Unfortunately, there aren't any good gift-giving holidays for a little while. Thus, I've decided to make my own up.
Alex Day! Or. Um. Something like that. Basically, I've decided that for my birthday this year (October 4), I want to give you guys things! I'll have fun, you'll get a present, it'll bestreets ahead awesome all around. Okay? Okay?
Okay!
[Poll #1858454]
Once it's closer to the actual day, I'll ask for mailing addresses. For now, please just fill out the poll (seriously, I love making gifts - keep me busy!) and be happy. Sound good?

Woe! So much woe!
Jul. 24th, 2012 06:52 pmOh my word, is this the world of the living? Is this where normal people exist?
I was sick for a while there, and when I finally conked out long enough to make progress on healing, I did so in such a weird position that I fucked up something in my deltoid hardcore. It was waking me up with its throbbing for a while there. Ick. Thankfully, it's finally feeling better. So now I have much internet (and chores and art) to catch up on.
Also, my Blackhawks Convention high was dampened by the news that my sweet bb Dubinsky is being sent to the Pit of Despair. Nooooo. But at least there's this awesome (and gorgeous) packed picture to cheer me up. And this video:
As another side note of sadness, is anyone else keeping up with Teen Wolf? Last night's episode. Holy shit. Things are getting real, and I am rapt.

I've been collecting hockey cards lately (don't judge me; hockey is awesome) and it's led to the invention of a fantastic pranking game. ( Read more... )

What is it, my love?
Jun. 24th, 2012 10:11 pmHoly crap, you guys. I made a Kane/Toews rec list. And it is HUGE.
Speaking of pairings I'm way too invested in, I encountered a Skyrim glitch the other day that actually worked in my favor. Many of the NPCs you meet in Skyrim you can marry if you're wearing the proper amulet and they're friends with you. For most of them, building a friendship is as easy as completing a quest related to them. The one character I had my eye on for a hubby, Quintus Navale, has two quests connected to him. I don't know why, but at some point I decided he was absolutely the one and only true love of my character. So when the game appeared to have glitched me out of obtaining his second quest (and thus removing my chance of marrying him), I was heartbroken.
I kept playing, though, and I bought a level-up perk that lets you invest in shops. Since Quintus is a shopkeeper, I figured I could at the very least show my platonic support of him. After I handed over 500 gold, though, a funny thing happened. I'd been wearing my Amulet of Mara for a while, just to see which characters were interested in me, and suddenly Quintus was one of them. Without ever getting his second quest. I don't know what flag got flipped incorrectly in the game or how, but investing in the shop turned him into a marriage prospect.
So I said I liked him. And we got married. And he's living in my house in Riften.
Seriously, I can't count the number of times I've had to reset because I sank into a mountain or a key item was knocked irretrievably behind a table or a quest item got stuck in my inventory... actually, that one's usually not fixable with resetting. I'm stuck with Finn's Lute and Pantea's Flute forever, it seems. Anyway, the point is, I'd never encountered a glitch I liked. Finally, the game's bugginess worked in my favor.
And yes, this means Nurelion's death never happened. He's still "asleep and dying" in The White Phial, while Quintus is baking me apple pies in Honeyside. Love it.
... I actually came close to crying with joy when I got to marry Quintus. I mean, I've sunk over 200 hours into my main character, and I'd been hoping to marry him for at least 150 of those. So. Happy.

I am a spaz and have high aspirations.
May. 21st, 2012 10:48 pmAshley, Dave, and Chad draw amazing things. Seeing their stuff made me want to draw things. Less amazing, granted, because those three are wowzers, but still things. And so I did!
( Comics: My Life is Not Interesting )
( Fanart: Shirtless Boys Kissing and a Teenage Demon )
By the way, what's the commonly accepted behavior when it comes to fanart? Do you let the author know you drew some, or just leave it to float on the internet? Which path is less rude?

Okay, so. Crossroad Blues. You all need to read it. It's hockey RPF, but you really don't need any background information. It's also amazingly entertaining and well written and it involves demons, you guys. DEMONS. And it's AWESOME. It's not stupid or melodramatic, it's just epic. Seriously, go read it. Go. Go read, and then come back and flail with me. I love.
