[livejournal.com profile] carolinecrane owns my soul. She wrote the best fic in the history of ever. Seriously. "Like a Chord on a Harp". And then [livejournal.com profile] jengeorge did a sequel, "Your Time Here is Fleeting", which is also great, so I guess she owns a bit of my soul as well. I gotta get more soul to give. They deserve it.

Other awesome things I've encountered lately:
- Nick and Jess tapping
- The Disney Princess Designer Collection
- The most badass drum solo you've ever seen
- Crocheted minions!

My mom brought that last item to my attention and requested some, so I'm planning on tackling those after I finish the crafts I currently have underway. Namely, a [ITEM REDACTED SO MY MOM WON'T KNOW HER XMAS GIFT] and a felt plush version of my Dimetrodon.

For now? Gold rush research to do for fic. Then sleep. Maybe. Maybe.

So I'm considering getting something radically different for my next hair cut. Right now, I have a curl bob going, but I kind of want to ditch it in favor of Melanie's cut. What say you guys? Am I insane? I mean, it's just hair, right? If it doesn't suit my fat little face, I'll have a good excuse to wear lots of awesome hats until it grows out. Win/win?

Oh, and this is too cool for school.

These ask-tumblrs for Kurt and Yosuke are awesome and now I want awkward Kurt/Yosuke friendship. And Souji, Kanji, Puck, and Finn being bros. These fandoms, they should not mesh, but... but... I want!

This LA Times op-ed makes my atheist and scientist selves happy. My writer self wants me to get back to fic already, while my artist self insists I instead reread [livejournal.com profile] pterawaters's fic so I can get cracking on the art. My tired self tells them all to shut the fuck up for a minute, jesus christ, and let me drink my milkshake in peace.

I got a weird stonework-ish mug at the thrift store that says YACHTING. That's the only text. I love it dearly.

On top of everything else, I so want to try this. It will do nothing but make me cross-eyed and cause a huge mess, but I'm compelled and I have no clue why. Hm.

How to end this post, how to end this post... oh, I know! Chris Colfer. Guh.

My mood has been so up and down in the past two days. Jeez. I only want to mention one bit of the sad - RIP Ryan Dunn - and then focus on the happy, because damnit! Happy!

- I discovered an amazing blog over the weekend: Wave at the Bus. The 170 days are magical.

- Discovered another amazing blog as well: Mich L. in L.A.. I've already ordered one of her pieces, made my own versions of another (which I will post pictures of once I'm not sleepwalking through the day), and have plans to tackle yet one more. Good, good crafty blog.

- It wasn't enough that Nendoroid Snow Miku exists for me to pine after. No, they had to announce a Pullip version of her as well. Damn you, world!

- Any of you guys play Rockstar games? I'm eh on GTA but in love with L.A. Noire, and I'm wondering if Red Dead Redemption would be worth the investment.

- I'm torn between three different stories for my [livejournal.com profile] originalbigbang, all surreal, but in very different ways. Do I go with the humor, the horror, or the in-between?

Okay, backing up a bit to the sad. We're marathoning the Jackass movies. The golf cart sketch in the first one got a little uncomfortable, and I choked up during the butt x-ray, of all things, but still. We're on the second film, and I'm on my second beer. It only seems appropriate. To you, Mr. Dunn. You were right; it is cacti.

So apparently my advisor is on vacation this whole week and didn't feel like letting me or the other person in his lab know. Hmph.

Thus I'm running code and... writing ficlets. Wednesday's should get a good reaction, I think. Oh, and listening to The Book of Mormon on repeat, because it is the most incredible musical ever created. Srsly.

I think this challenge was MADE FOR ME. I just etched Adventure Time characters onto glasses yesterday. I took my pills with water from a PHIL FACE glass last night, for god's sake. I must do this one. Think think think.

Try to call my psychologist? Voice mail.
Try to call my medical team? Voice mail. Which is full.
This is just a wee bit uncool.

Anyway.

Yesterday was Benny's birthday - my stupid pup is 3! I made him and Opal treats ), which they were very enthusiastic about. Jaime was eh on the cookies, but I enjoyed them. The dogs most certainly did - they hovered and hovered and hovered, just waiting for me to give them my cookie, even though they'd both just had their own. Greedy little mutts.

Trying to find boxes in which to send crafty goods to folks (still need your address, [livejournal.com profile] instrumentality!) and pondering what my next project will be. Real life is unfairly stressful at the moment; I'm kind of relying on hobbies to keep me moving and not just zoning out for hours. I acquired a bunch of old Barbies in fairly rough shape that I'm planning to rehab, but there are also doll clothes to sew, amigurumi and hats to crochet, threadless shirts to layout and draw, fics to write, original stories to write, figures to sculpt, comics to script... and yet I barely have enough energy to exist.

Bahhh, I'm not even sure what I'm trying to accomplish with this post. Document how dopily much I love my dogs and psyche myself up to actually do something, I guess. Maybe I'll write some drabbles.

Oh, and now that I know Kinder Surprise is illegal in America, I really want some. Stupid FDA.

Madeline and Caroline - I have a scarf and shot glasses for you, respectively. E-mail or PM me shipping addresses, please?

Anyone else whose name ends with "line"? I'm sure I can figure out something to make for you.

As a side note, anyone have any advice for a girl who isn't on disability but feels like maybe she should be? A... uh... friend of mine... has a job that she's struggling just to show up for and she's not sure what to do. She has a long history of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and she thinks she's in the middle of a major depressive episode, including having issues falling asleep before 4am but also randomly shutting down, just completely crashing, and sleeping during the middle of the day. She really doesn't want to work anymore; she wants to focus on not feeling so goddamn horrible all the time. But she needs the money. What do, flist. What do.

rinnia: (my brain)
- I buy frivolous things.
- Glee has the best cast ever.
- Caroline is the best anything ever.
- L.A. Noire is so delicious that I can't even begin to put it into words. I've forsaken sleep in favor of playing more than once. Unf. Also, I'm convinced that everyone wants to sleep with Phelps. It makes the game far more humorous.
- In one day, I took care of dishes, cleaned the bathroom, played video games, did some writing, and painted my nails (OPI Gleek Out + China Glaze Black Crackle). A far cry from sleeping for 16 hours and spending the rest of the day moping and shaking. Yay for brain cooperation?
- New techniques I'm picking up: painting with acrylics (mostly toy face customization), wig treatment (including cutting and styling), sculpting with polymer clay, and digital painting/coloring. Up next: glass etching!
- Also, I'm now collecting Tangled stickers. Apparently, I'm not just a dork; I'm a five-year-old dork.
- On that note, anyone here involved in toy buy/sell/trade stuff at all? My WTB list right now is as follows:
--- Tokidoki Cactus Pups vinyl - Bastardino Jr.
--- Disney Store exclusive Rapunzel and Flynn dolls
--- Custom bait dolls - Pullip preferred, but I'm open to other types
- We bought a giant freakin' bean bag at a thrift store for $50. Jaime and I can fit on it at the same time. It is absolutely glorious. And the dogs love it.
- Jacks is now consistently eating fuzzies instead of pinkies. This pleases.

+ I went jogging this morning. Not for very long, as my asthma decided it really didn't like the combination of aerobic activity and oak pollen, but I still did. Took the dog with me, too, and jogged about half of our walk route, then walked through it a second time. My legs are tired, but I'm mentally energized and I feel accomplished. Totally worth it.

+ Made my first cloth doll last night! I'm sure I've made something before, probably with a glue gun and felt, but this time I designed him, made the pattern, did a simple embroidered face, and even braved the sewing machine to slap him together. Granted, he's just a little two-piece fleece monster. Still! Progress!

+ Only one class today, then lunch, then psychologist. This means I will start my weekend off feeling not crazy. Whoo!

+ Possible dinner out tonight with Kiri and Kaisa. Kaisa leaves tomorrow, which is definitely sad-making, but she'll be back and for good in the not-so-distant future. They suggested Alehouse, which sounds quite promising. I do love me some ale.

+ FYE just doesn't get old. Plus, I got the Remixes EP, so there's more awesomeness. Seriously. Too much AWESOME. And if music can't make life better, what can? Drug of choice, right here.

Out of the sun once more. Phew. So, I'm hoping to be kind of recreationally productive this weekend, but I'm not sure what I should work on. Any suggestions?
