This is better news than it sounds like.
Jan. 9th, 2009 11:06 amSo we may have another diagnosis. One of the neurologists (a great guy who's really taken an interest in Jaime's case) ordered an MRV yesterday, which shows the blood vessels in the head. He said he can't be entirely sure and that he's waiting for the radiologists to make their report, but that it looks to him like there's some clotting in the venous sinuses. This can raise the intracranial pressure, so if he's right, the clots might be the cause of everything. I know clots in the brain sounds nasty, but it's actually good news. Whereas idiopathic pressure would likely be treated with a shunt running from the brain to the gut that Jaime would have (and have to have worked on every few years) for the rest of his life, blood clots would be treated by putting him on some good blood thinners. A doctor earlier mentioned that the final report isn't in yet, but that a lot of the radiologists do think the scans looked abnormal. The only tricky part of that diagnosis would be that Jaime's platelets are still low, so he couldn't go on blood thinners immediately, but we'll jump that hurdle I wrote hardle at first, teehee when and if we get to it.
Mary came to visit yesterday, and when we went to go get sandwiches for dinner, I saw a car in the Publix parking lot that was called a Kompressor. I wonder if a man named Odine developed it.

Disgruntled!
Sep. 21st, 2008 04:03 pmSo this is going on less than a mile from our house.
Charlotte County has a SWAT team. Who knew?
Jaime: What do we have helicopters and a SWAT team for?
Me: This, I guess.
