Wow. I'm not going to reply directly to her, as I don't want to egg on a crazy, but...
1) Believe it or not, this is the first time I've heard this. I have no idea who the hell you are.
2) I don't claim to be Rinoa. Yes, my e-mail is rinoaheartilly, but my alias is Alex Smith.
3) You're not doing a good job being Rinoa, Carole.
4) You are not Rinoa. She is a fictional character. No one is Rinoa.
5) WTF is there to discuss?!

In honor of [livejournal.com profile] jengeorge (and because I haven't exactly been a bundle of joy lately), this is an unabashedly, unreservedly, undeniably happy post! I'll start things off:

1) This season of RuPaul's Drag Race is streamable on Logo's site.
2) Bye bye, Prop 8!
3) I did quick scribbles last night of some of my favorite pairings being kissy-cute! )

And now it's your turn - comment here with anything and everything happy you can think of. This is a place for the most redonkculous adorable you can muster. Let's just be frivolous for a day and love everything and everyone!

Went to see Beauty and the Beast (and Tangled Ever After) last night and had an epically good time. I also had the revelation that I am a sucker for couples who dance.

It's kind of amazing how, even when the universe seems to be out to reassure me and a lot of things are going just right, if my brain chemicals decide I'm not going to be happy, I'm not happy. And then, because things are going well, I feel bad about feeling bad despite my good fortune. It's a vicious cycle. Things go poorly, I get sad. Things go well, I get sad because I'm still sad. I'm on meds for my anxiety, but while they help with that, they don't begin to touch the depression. Ugh, I hate when I'm on a low. Good thing it'll be counterbalanced by some productive mania soon, I bet.

Anyway, as mentioned above, good things are happening! Allow me to outline them:
- Jaime's getting a subsidized student loan that will cover all our current non-student or medical debt.
- We both got iPhones! They are wicked. I am in love with "Cut the Rope". Cute, cute game.
- We're adopting another dog! Her name's Opal and we get her Friday evening. That one legitimately cheered me for a bit; I may have squeaked and jumped while waiting for Starbucks when I got the call.
- If I discount the horrid unevenness of the Kurt and Emma plotlines, Glee last night was actually pretty amazing. Santana just about broke my heart. Oh, and Puck/Lauren? Awesome. I'm still pulling for Puck/Kurt endgame, but Puck/Lauren is pretty good in my book. I can live most easily with that.
- On that fandom-y note, I'm 9700 words into my fic for [livejournal.com profile] kurt_disney. I think this is the longest thing I've ever written. It's kind of due tomorrow, and I'm nowhere near done, but I'm still proud of my progress.
- Jaime got me a gaw-juss coral necklace. It's not an exact match of my beloved Felicity one from when I was younger, but it's damn close and awfully nice on its own merits.
- I left off on the couples day of the video game meme. Which meeeans that I get to babble about my ship(s). Let's do that now, shall we?

They're finally introducing an Isul doll. Isn't he gorgeous? Just wait until there's a dandy version. I'll be $100 poorer.

So Laguna's officially in Duodecim now which... on the one hand, Laguna Laguna, but on the other, SOD OFF OLD MAN.

How do you guys feel about fanfic companion stories? Like, I read this one prompt that really intrigued me, but it's going to require a lot of set-up and will still (by virtue of the angsty prompt) have some far-fetched elements. I'd like to write it, yet at the same time I'd like to write the set-up I have planned and then follow it through to completion without introducing the big wham the prompt calls for. I guess in the end I'd have a branching fic - two stories that share the same beginning, but then take two decidedly different turns. Is that something that would be interesting to people, or should I just stick with one or the other?

What a weird week this has been.

Last week started out alright. I can't remember much of it, but I do remember that I was pretty pleased with my midterms. Then there was group drama. Forcing school away for a bit, Jaime and I unwound by making slightly belated sugar skulls for El Dia de Los Muertos (which I may post pictures of, if I'm ever motivated and emotionally stable enough at the same time). But the day after I made a skull in Odie's honor, Stitch died. So I spent a lot of time crying, over her and over school and over everything in general. Add onto that some health issues (nothing serious, but annoyances - GI + girly + mental - add up, y'know?), and I was in a pretty sorry state.

Then a strange thing happened.

I slept. Okay, so that wasn't good as it sounds at first blush - one of the medications I got put on disagreed with me pretty strongly, and I spent the weekend nauseous and dizzy and so tired I could barely drag myself around the apartment. Needless to say, I stopped taking the drug (and haven't told my doctor yet - I will, I will! Jeez.). At this point, I think it's pretty much out of my system. Somehow, coming off of that, even with some lingering group drama (though there's a spark of hope there that appeared earlier today I'm absolutely giddy about) and health monitoring (again, nothing serious - this one was actually left up to me as to whether I wanted it or not, because the doctor doesn't think there's anything wrong, but anxiety makes me craaaaaaaazy, so I went for it. So far? Nothing wrong.), I'm almost energized. Yeah, life can suck sometimes, and I really want more than anything to just be healthy and have everyone I love be healthy too, but nothing's ever perfect. You have to take what beauty you can from the quiet moments and hope that the chaos ends in your favor.

Well, and sometimes you have to not be a pretentious twat and just have light-hearted fun.

...

And on to the light-hearted fun!

Having a Jaime is also a wonderful thing, especially one who's replaying No More Heroes, as are dark lagers, hard salamis, and cheddar. I happen to have all of them to boogie with tonight. I feel blessed, no lie, no sarcasm.

Ugh. Being happy's kind of exhausting. But there's no time for rest! Gotta get as much in as I can before it's back to the lab tomorrow!

Oh! And if you haven't signed up to get a holiday card from me yet, please do! Sign up for a glittery greeting here!

I've been waiting for this day for over a year, and now that's it here, I'm too sick to enjoy it. Ugh. Y'see, normally I'd be on campus now, having had one class at 7:25 and waiting for both another class at 9:35 and a group meeting at 11, but today? Today I'm lying in bed with a hoarse voice, a tender stomach, and no small amount of fatigue. WTF. How did I get from "a little dizzy" to this in less than 24 hours. Thankfully, besides the aforementioned symptoms, I don't actually feel too bad, just... tired. So I doubt it's anything serious.

Anyway, on to the topic at hand: it's the tenth anniversary of Final Fantasy VIII's North American release! Ten years. Ten years of sinking hours into setting up the perfect junctions, ten years of soft resetting after losing my Seifer card in Triple Triad, ten years of shipping Squall and Rinoa with hopeless, sigh-inducing devotion (and ten years ago, I didn't even know the term shipping). Ten years of playing the best game in my little world. Thanks, Square. No matter how much you kick around my heart now, I can never fully write you off, because you gave me my favorite game of all time. All the hours of happiness playing, discussing, just thinking about FFVIII have given me... thank you. Here's to another ten years of fandom joy!

And now, rather than booze it up and play hours of my favorite game in celebration, I'm going to hobble to the kitchen to see if there's anything bland enough for me to consume safely, then either sleep or lay in bed and do some reading for class. What a day.

Question submitted:
you are really gay

I actually busted up laughing at that. I'm impressed! Somehow, they managed to look at a site dedicated to a het pairing written by a girl who muses at one point on the attractiveness of the male character, and deduce that the site creator must be homosexual. What logic!

And that's not a question. Phbt.

On a related note, I love getting "questions" like that. I've only had two or three, but still. It means I've attracted enough attention to have detractors. Go me!

Someday I will update that site again and add my other planned FFVIII sites. Someday.
