Wake him up, definitely. One of my biggest fears is dying in my sleep - there's just something unspeakably tragic to me about missing such a huge event in, well, your life. I'd want to know so I could fight and think and savor those last few breaths and I'd unerringly choose to give someone I love the same opportunity. Plus, how could we MacGuyver escape parachutes out of puke bags, issues of SkyMall, and dental floss for our epic against-all-odds survival if one of us was asleep?

It's kind of amazing how, even when the universe seems to be out to reassure me and a lot of things are going just right, if my brain chemicals decide I'm not going to be happy, I'm not happy. And then, because things are going well, I feel bad about feeling bad despite my good fortune. It's a vicious cycle. Things go poorly, I get sad. Things go well, I get sad because I'm still sad. I'm on meds for my anxiety, but while they help with that, they don't begin to touch the depression. Ugh, I hate when I'm on a low. Good thing it'll be counterbalanced by some productive mania soon, I bet.

Anyway, as mentioned above, good things are happening! Allow me to outline them:
- Jaime's getting a subsidized student loan that will cover all our current non-student or medical debt.
- We both got iPhones! They are wicked. I am in love with "Cut the Rope". Cute, cute game.
- We're adopting another dog! Her name's Opal and we get her Friday evening. That one legitimately cheered me for a bit; I may have squeaked and jumped while waiting for Starbucks when I got the call.
- If I discount the horrid unevenness of the Kurt and Emma plotlines, Glee last night was actually pretty amazing. Santana just about broke my heart. Oh, and Puck/Lauren? Awesome. I'm still pulling for Puck/Kurt endgame, but Puck/Lauren is pretty good in my book. I can live most easily with that.
- On that fandom-y note, I'm 9700 words into my fic for [livejournal.com profile] kurt_disney. I think this is the longest thing I've ever written. It's kind of due tomorrow, and I'm nowhere near done, but I'm still proud of my progress.
- Jaime got me a gaw-juss coral necklace. It's not an exact match of my beloved Felicity one from when I was younger, but it's damn close and awfully nice on its own merits.
- I left off on the couples day of the video game meme. Which meeeans that I get to babble about my ship(s). Let's do that now, shall we?

Intro note: In Treehouse of Horror XXI, Dracula knows the streets after dark so well that he can coast down the road with each light turning green as he gets there.

Me: Wow, you've got like almost Dracula skills going here.
Jaime: Reverse Dracula skills.
Me: Hitting every light juuust before it turns red.
Jaime: Yeah, Aluca... ALUCARD! AHHHHH!
Me: ... Did you just get that?
Jaime: Yeah.
Me: Wow. Really?
Jaime: I may be retarded, but at least I'm entertaining.

Oh ho ho. Logically, I don't really believe in the idea of soulmates, but... yeah, okay, you got me. One can't always be logical, eh? Yes, I tend to believe that certain people are just made for each other, and yes, I think I've found mine. I usually call him the other half of my soul - it just feels that way.

Somehow, it seems unlikely that someone who "got away" from you was really your soulmate. I suppose there could be exceptions, but generally speaking...

Anyway, last Sunday was my birthday, and I spent it entirely at home. Not for lack of choice, though; it just worked out that way. I got most of my out-and-about fun earlier in the week, what with the Decemberists concert on Wednesday and on Saturday, Jaime and I went and played pool. I did pretty well for the first two racks before all of the ability got sucked out of the room during the third. I might be getting better. More consistent, at least. Just a smidge. Really, though, it's just a lot of fun, so I keep on trying. On Sunday itself, Jaime ran out and got me a few gifties - some bath sponge capsules (vehicles, sea animals, and farm animals, yay! This was apparently my fifth birthday) and Rhythm Heaven, which is awesome. I've been playing it every spare moment I get, and I've almost beat it already. Two more levels to go. Of course, then there's the matter of gathering up the few medals I've missed along the way, not to mention all the Perfects I have yet to claim... Seriously, if you're a fan of rhythm games, you must pick it up. It's too fun to adequately describe here. And the love lizards! So cute! <3

What else have I been doing? Um... reading papers? A lot of papers? Blood flow phantoms and CTCs and melanoma, oh my! Ah, who am I kidding? I love being a science geek.

Class in half an hour, then it's off to the health center for me to get blood drawn. On the plus side, the doctor said it's been long enough that I can knock my panels back to every year instead of every six months, and even though I've picked up a new medication recently, my grad health insurance is better (!!!) for prescriptions than what I had before, so the overall increase in expenses per month is only $10 or so. If only it applied to dental work, too. Sigh.

You bored too? Scour the archives of The Anticraft. The more recent issues haven't been quite as good as the old ones (and they have an error in this article that hasn't been fixed yet Whoo, fixed! :D), but much of the archive is great. Or, if you still haven't seen Keith Olbermann's health care special comment, watch some clips. As for me, I'm off to check Craft and NewScientist before Physiology starts. Aaaaand... go!
