inquiry and bloodlust

- Tired.
+ Saw my psychologist. Left there feeling pretty good.
- Not feeling so great now.
+ At least my teeth are doing good.
- Panicked this morning.
+ Panicked this morning! No, really. It's okay. Every attack should bring me a little closer to working this out now that I have new ways to think about it. It's just another baby step towards balance.
- My knee hurts. I have no idea how I managed to fuck it up, but I did, and it is not happy. I'm doubly bothered by this, as I've never had knee problems before. My knees have always been a part of my body I could rely on. I feel so betrayed.
+ My knee feels better than it did yesterday, though.
- No homework. I have time to do it now, and I'd really like to be able to. Plus, Physiology homework is fun times.
+ No homework. This means I can have other fun times - Project Runway, Nocturne, pool table, and a bottle of beer, here I come!
- Reading to do. Blah.
+ Reading to do. Learning!
- I'm having second thoughts about something. It's not so good.
+ I'm not alone, though. I have friends and I have family and I have Jaime, who is going to help me find someone else to talk to who can help me more directly. And it's not like I'm the only person ever to be in this specific situation. I know I can figure this out. One way or another, I'll make a situation where I can be happy.
+ Distracting myself with livejournal made my aches recede. Y'see, brain? It really is just you. My body's good.
- Well, except for my teeth. And the knee. And you. But yeah, the rest is healthy and reliable!
+ I remembered to bring my iPod and headphones, so I have music. Plus, new iTunes lets you put Genius playlists on your iPod, so I have lots of music in many varieties. Whoo!

P.S. Linux is weird. Like less offensive Windows, but still with the annoying Ctrl button combos. Not sure how to feel about this. I wish the compy labs had Macs.

Even though I'm speaking with him in person as I type this, I'll say it here as well: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAIME! 25 years... Watch those creakin' bones, oldtimer.

Feeling better, but still pretty tired and a bit congested, so I'm giving it another day before I go back to campus. I'd hate to get the rest of my lab sick, y'know? Plus, if I'm not quite well and I put myself through a full day prematurely, who knows how sick I could end up after that? So, yeah. Really, I'm just trying to justify what I perceive as "slacking off" to myself so I don't feel bad about it. I hate not meeting expectations.

Payday tomorrow! My very first paycheck. :D Granted, most of it will go to rent, class fees, dental bills, and paying off Jaime's credit card, but... but... paycheck!

Missed Kyria online last night. D: Ever since I started playing Nocturne, I've been hoping to catch her on AIM and fangirl over it, and I missed her. Tarnation.

Hey, Nocturne... I could play today. Turn this into real slacking so my guilt can be somewhat justified. Even though I've already done all my homework and the research work I'm on right now is stuff I need to be in the lab for and I'm not up to visiting campus just yet. Yes. Slacking.

I need to tune down my conscience.

Because Jaime doesn't get out of his last class for half an hour, my advisor still hasn't e-mailed me, and I'm massively bored - an iTunes meme stolen from yuffers. ( Oh, isn't this exactly where you'd like me? I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know. )

Well, that was pretty fun. More importantly, it wasted a good deal of time. Yesssss! What to do with ten more minutes...

So I'm sitting in the Student Union, having already eaten lunch, and enjoying the wireless. Jaime's in class at the moment and I haven't heard back from Dr. J yet. Thus, I'm just kind of chilling. Any other time, I'd probably go knock on my advisor's door and ask what's up, but since this is the first day, I don't have a desk assigned yet, and it'll probably take a decent amount of time to get me settled and figure out how I'm starting my research, I don't want to just barge in when he's not prepared. I guess I'll wait it out for now. My only class today is already over and consisted mostly of reading the syllabus, so despite the subject line, I'm actually quite relaxed. I do have some not fun phone calls to make in a bit, but for now? Cruisy.

Sitting here in the food court by the student union, as it has wireless for UF students. The only place open is the Starbucks, which is fine by me, as I'm not looking to eat right now, and which was playing Elliott Smith when I walked in. That's got to be a good sign, right? Anyway, Jaime's orientation stuff started... approximately one minute ago, while mine doesn't begin until 11:30, so I've got some time to kill. Hooray for wireless, yeah? Now I just have to hope I can find the Brain Institute without too much hassle when the time comes. And that I don't scare off the other students a.k.a. my potential social pool. No awkwardness today, no sir! No sir. No... sir...

Let's open with some science-y interest: Teenage Baby May Lack Master Ageing Gene. You can see pictures of the girl in question here. This is one story I'd like to follow - her condition is utterly baffling given the amount of knowledge I have now. I'd love to learn what the full story is.

Speaking of NewScientist stories, Jaime wrote about the issues with "equal time" arguments (spurred by the craziness exhibited by some commenters on a NS story) here. I couldn't agree more. Love his brain.

Speaking of my friends' concentrated awesome, Cathy made an artbook! It's gorgeous, no lie. I'm so glad I snagged her for artistic duties on my comic book; someday, I'll hold her to that. >:D She sent us a copy of her book with a handwritten note inside. Could be worth something on eBay someday. Worth something to me personally right now.

Speaking of surprises that made me smile, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert just get cuter and cuter. I don't ship it - Kris and his wife are adorable and true - but I do adore the bromance (even if I hate the term bromance. Ugh!).

Speaking of BFF entertainers, the Boosh boys are going to be at Comic Con! Aaaaaaaugh, I want to be there so. BAD. I need to encounter the glory in person. ( BONUS: Noel Fielding picspam! Because he's both part of a very talented team AND guhbuhlovely! )

Speaking of Comic Con, I kind of love the exclusive Pullip, LaLa, that they're going to be selling there. I don't have the cash for her, and even if I did, I'm not sure I could justify spending it on a doll that's not Kirsche or Jade, but she sure is fun to window-shop at.

Speaking of Pullips, how neat is Princess Ann? A second Hepburn Pullip, and not only is she cute as a button, she looks even better than the first one did! I sent Jaime that link, and he said she's pretty much me as a Pullip. I'm seriously flattered.

Speaking of cute little things, the world's ugliest dog isn't ugly at all! Look at him! He's adorable! I guess I'm glad he won, since that's the only reason I've gotten to see him and all, but ugly? No way.

Speaking of physical aberrations, there was this article on NewScientist about a teenager who looks like a baby and is developmentally much younger than she should be. Apparently, she may lack some sort of master ageing gene...

My life is kind of on hold at the moment while I wait for some stuff, so I'm doing... pretty much nothing. Anyway, I went YouTube-spelunking earlier and found two notably entertaining videos, both starring the same person. I... might have a bit of a crush. ANYWAY.
